86-89 ski "2001" vs. 94 sport Nautique

I've been looking for a good 2001 for a while and it seems like all the nice ones are 12k to 15k, which is fine and I dont mind paying for a nice boat, but I found a '94 sport for 15k. The sport looks in good shape with low engine hours(350)and the seller said he would meet me half way. My real question is which boat has a better wake? I know the sport is newer, nicer, bigger, more storage, less hours and a better engine. Did I just answer my own question? Also, is it the same hull as the super air?

i love my 2001, would take her over a sport any day, then again, i got one that was imaculate, owned by the local nautique dealership for under 10k

it was def. a RARE find. The deals are out there you just gotta be patient

If you want a 2001 then keep looking you should definetly be able to find something under 10k. I believe that the 94 sport has the same hull as the Super Air. So it should create a great wake as well.

I've been told that the 94 sport does not have the same hull as the super air. I would like to go with the sport, but if the 2001 has a nicer wake with less weight then i'll go with the 2001.

the sacked out sport throws a much harder and larger wake, both great boats, but I would choose the sport.

Here is my 2001. Can't complain about the wake. For the price, you can't beat it.

With out a doubt I would go with the sport. The boat throws a great wake once you weight it. I will be putting a ballast system of about 900 pounds this winter and unlike the 2001 it will be totally hidden. If you go with the 2001 you will probably find yourself selling it in a year or two because your tired of stepping all over ballast and tired of only being able to bring a few people out with you.

I'm a 2001 owner and I would go with the Sport if you have are that close in terms of price. The Sport is open bow and is the same SAN hull. Don't get me worng the 2001 throws an incredible wake but there is a difference between a SAN and a 2001.

The space in the boat issue is all relative imo. I usually have 5+ people in my sacked out 2001 and have no problem with it but if I was used to a roomy V-Drive then mine would probably feel cramped.

Sport...No comparison. I love the 2001 wake, but the sport, properly weighted, will throw a great wake as well. For the same price I would pick the Sport.

Josh is incorrect the SPORT has the same hull as an Air Nautique not a SAN..

Also the boat is located in central N.C. and the guy says he dosn't winterize it. Should I be concerned about it.

How much weight do I need to use to get a good wake and keep in mind I am far from a pro. I was thinking that I would use 5-600 lbs of lead and just trailer it the five min. I live from the river.

you are gonna want more than 5-600 pounds. id start with at least 800. then it becomes one of those...well if 800 makes a difference than maybe i should try 1200. lol at least thats how it is for me. i started with 800 and went from there
