Try using either Gator Grip, or Rhino Liner (or other similar spray on truck bed liner).

I had the same situation w/ mine. Gator grip on the rough surface is purfect. Everyone that rides with me says its great, no slipping when getting into bindings.

Is the Gator grip like rhino lining because that seems like it would scratch the board up pretty bad

Gator grip is a foam like material. my wife loves it on the swim step-it doesnt hurt the knees when you climb out. contact chris @ www.wakejunky.com Ive had mine on for quite a while-great stuff

I just did my boat with the gator grip stuff, its very good. You can also get more colors from a trax dealer...but for the regular colors wakejunky did me perfect.

Here is a tip...buy a little roll of construction paper and grab a kids crayon. Put the paper over your area that you are covering, and use the crayon to rub over the entire area. It will perfectly transcribe the pattern to the paper. cut it out, and use it as a pattern. No guesswork, and it will be perfect.

Here is one place...the prices might be a little higher, but they have some really cool colors....might even be the same guy....I don't know but he was very cool and shipped the product right away. I love it...its cool to the touch, non slip, doesn't hurt the boards, keeps the boat clean, is easy on the knees, and doesn't hurt the boards.

Here is a link to the Traxx stuff....
