So last night I was coming home from school to work and disaster stuck....
I was behind a bigger chevy truck, and between a guardrail and another car..... well just cruising along and between the tires of the chevy I see a big pile of something in the road.... I had just enough time to grab the wheel tightly and holler "****"..... made an awful slam noise in the back.... car seemed to drive fine and everything so I kept on.... well about 5 miles later I get the "LOW TIRE PRESSURE" warning on the dash.... and about 2 more miles after that (2 miles from the next exit) I hear FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP FAP..... I pulled over and sure enough, tire is toasted.

Good think when I bought the car they didn't have the key for the locking lugs in the car so I needed a tow. Got towed, stayed the night at a hotel, and where it was towed didn't have another 225/40/18 tire so I limped home on the spare. Tire place that actually had that tire in stock said they couldn't do it, the rim was shot (pretty good bend in it). So now I'm looking at $300 to gt the rim fix (I cannot find the rim anywhere online to buy 1 new one) and another ~$250 for a tire ..... so like $550 for a 1 new rim and tire

or

Go to ebay and get 4 rims and tires for like $1000 shipped..... which is most likely what I'll do, just looking for suggestions on what rims might look nice on the car -- its so hard to picture them on a vehicle .

Here is the current car/rim setup

I would stick with black rims. Other than that it is tough to know what YOU will like. I can post a few rims I like if you want. In the end though it is your car. How about posting a few you like and we can chime in and let you know which one we dig.

You have a nice vehicle, please don't waste your money on cheap cast wheels. Good wheels are worth every penny, they're balanced, look better, if you have a blow-out and bend one it can be repaired, they won't leak, lighter so you reduce unsprung weight... a host of reasons.

Look at other cars that have rims, and see which ones you like. Here's over 2000 Lexus IS' cars you can browse through.

You can fit some staggered 19's or 20's on there. I like the staggered look but then you can't rotate your tires. I'd check the Lexus forums and craigslist. A lot of people buy rims and then sell when they need money.

Just don't make it look boy racer or gangster.

Those are staggered rims in that last picture....

I want to keep the look it had....

my problem is that I cannot drive the car now, and I NEED to drive for school/work.... I figured get cheapies as a quick fix, run them for a summer/winter until the tires are low and then try and sell them for a few hundred bucks and get something nice.... I'm just in a pickle right now.

Anyone have experience with Konig rims?... Found some I love for a reasonable price.

@CJ - your wife's car is beautiful - I really like the kit too..... was it a pretty easy install?

I think I am going with Konig Lace rims -- they look nice, the package I found has really nice tires on it and it has a nice lip to it too..... same as are on this car
Hopefully I can get them this week so I can get my little guy back on the road.... I've only had the thing for a few weeks and am already spoiled by the heated seats and bluetooth. I'm driving my Uncle's Mitsu he wanted to sell me when I was looking for a newer car, glad I didn't buy it, just doesn't even compare

Ordered some today
went with these: American Eagle (Made in the USA - didn't know that still happened) with some really nice tires) - local shop was running a screaming deal and had free next day shipping - so I came in like $600 cheaper than some Lorenzo rims I was looking at and I'm getting nicer tires

Hopefully they'll look okay on the car - not to far from my current setup, so it shouldn't be too much shock

Nick, We had Lexus order and install it, so yea it was really easy. But you could DIY it comes with directions and it's pretty simple. The guys at Ings are super nice should you need anything too.

I've had lip kits on other cars and its been a few simple screws/bolts.... I figured this was the same, but drilling into this is a bit different than drilling into a civic
