I have a 1989 Supra Conbrio that is real shallow in the rear & needs weight. Is anyone running one of these with weight in it? I was going to sell the boat for something deeper but decided against it b/c it was cheap, runs good & has a tower (plus it's paid off) I'm a little nervous to start stuffing a 1,000 lbs of weight in it b/c quite frankly it looks like the rub rail would be under the water then The hull is the same as the Comp TSM6 with a real flat hook under the seat. I was thinking of 4 250lb sacks, one on each side of the motor & one front & rear. I'd love to go with more weight but quite frankly I don't think it will handle it, tell me I'm wrong so I can start spending some money Once I get through this I plan on adding a four blade prop for a better pull with the weight.

I have a 90 Comp and understand completly what you are saying about the rear being too shallow to put weight in it. But there have been a few guys with Comps that have put a lot of weight in there. I bought a 540lb Fatsack that I am going to try this year between the back seat and the motor box. Then go from there.

My buddy runs old lead tractor weights we bought at a tractor salvage yard. 100# each and have built in handles. Don't know exact dimensions but 4 of them fit real nice in the rear compartment of his '89 Conbrio. Also, evenly distributed throughout the boat--saves space.....Prices ranged from $15-$20 for plate in our area? Now you just have to find a tractor salvage yard right? Good luck!

Ryan, how low does the boat sit in the water with all the weight in it?

Just as an FYI - I maintain an email list of Supra Comp owners. There are about 12 of us on it now. If you want to be added please email dba4life@aol.com I will put an email to the group pointing to this thread. Hopefully that may get some responses.

Carl, As you know, the boat already has a "nose down" attitude but through even distribution he is able to accomodate 1000#. (4)100# plates up front, (4)100# plates in back, (2)100# plates each side of motor box-in gunnel. This is probably the most you'll ever want to do unless you enjoy many "tsunamis" over the bow and "sprint boat" type driving. As I can recall, the boat sits very low in the water but not below the rubrail. Try it out and find a comfort zone..... With passengers and weight the wake is definitely improved! Hope this helps.....

Ryan, is that 1,000 or 1,200 lbs? Two 100 lbs on each side? That would seem to be the max weight for this boat no doubt but how does the boat pull & handle with a 240 hp PCM? I think a four blade is in order.

"nose down" I like that....So true. Only funny when your manager is sitting in the front seat and the wave comes over and smacks him hard in the head!!

One thing that I never thought about in the lower boats is the bilge exit. A friend had a boat that was based on the supra comp (brendella comp). The bilge outlet was at the rear of the boat, and when weighted, the outlet was under water and would start a reverse siphon when the bilge pump cut on and off, thus filling his boat with water instead of emptying it. A great way to weight the boat is with a super single waterbed mattress. Pick one up for about thirty bucks and put it in the back of the boat. Easily adjustable weight and becomes neutral if the boat were to take on water, unlike sand, lead or weights. For the front, you can get another waterbed mattress or some buckets of sand. A Launch pad side sac would be good for either side of the engine, or with enough in the front and back, you may not even need it. Just a few suggestions Later Tiffany www.WakeChicks.com

Carl, 1000# even: 400 front, 400 back, 200 mid--(meaning 100 each side). Yes, 4-blade definitely! I would think the boat to be a little sluggish myself? But then again, seems to do just fine when I've been around him? He continually runs that weight with passengers and the PCM 351 variety. As for Tiffany and the valid bilge outlet issues, I think you could just run the pump while in motion.....? I am trying to get him (Gary) to register for our great little site so he can express his "undying" love for Supra to all of you. Also, I'll see if he has any pictures (I can post) with boat loaded and on the water? Might be a better reference for all of us?

Yes a picture would rock. I haven't thought about the bilge issue, I'll look later today to check my thruhull. I think I need to see if there are any waterbed supply houses up here, something tells me NH is NOT the hot bed of waterbed action

On my 90 Comp the bilge hole is up by the driver. Way higher then the water line. So it would not be an issue. Now if yours is in the back then that could be a problem.
