I think it came out pretty cool. Don't let me fool you though, it was purely accidental.

Maybe he took the photo on accident (like accidentally hitting the button)?

Maybe this picture was taken right before the camera fell into the water. They recovered it and this was the only foto they could recover..?

I think the perspective and depth of field is interesting. it has a rather intimate feel to it. Nice pic!

"Nice job Rich. Really made the photo stand out."

Thanks, but what really stands out are the jpeg artifacts in the water at the upper right.

Those wouldn't be there if the processing was done before compressing it down for the web!

You can save the highlites in a shot like the above where it's overexposed as long as they're not blown.

AHHH...that's why those artifacts are there.

You did an amazing job on bringing back those highlights! My only complaint is his left shoulder.

I do like the "feel" of the pic. Even before Rich masterfully adjusted it.

"My only complaint is his left shoulder."

Oops! Gave him a little sunburn. (Good Eye Jeremy)

I used the shadow/highlite tool on that shot which I'm not real familiar with since I usually pull down the exposure in the RAW convertor if the shot's overexposed. It's a pretty powerful tool it seems, I'll have to remember that next time I use it.
