I need a new board. 5ft. 9in. 190lbs. Most difficult trick at this point is a hs backroll. I really don't want to spend more than $300 on the board and bindings combined so this may be somewhat limiting. On the other hand, I don't much care if it's a 2008 or 2007 or even a 2006 model. Graphics don't mean much to me, nor does any particular name brand or pro endorsement. The last board I bought was a Hyperlite Premier 135 with 30/60 bindings. The proshop that sold it to me gave very poor advice in my opinion as it seemed to be a very short board for my size. What do ya'll think? board? bindings? board size?

My choice for you would be a 139 Obrien Natural, or maybe 141 Obrien Cartel. I've seen on ebay some of these boards 07' models w/ Xenon bindings for around 300$ new!

Check out the deals at the local boat shows. I'd shoot for a '07 Transcend 138 or a 140 Absolute. The $'s could be a bit limiting, but you might be able to find something used for that figure. PM me if you're interested in a Transcend. I might be able to swing you a deal.

I definantly suggest finding an 07 model board/bindings.

and probably a 139-142 board. a 135 is way to short

I have the same build as you and I suggest the obrien player...they have been making them for a number of years so you should be able to get an older cheaper one.
Try to get the best bindings you can get, the more you can feel and control the board the better.

id be looking at a boat show or a web site for the pkg deal of a CWB Pure w/ Torq bindings, the price is usually around $300 maybe a little more but well worth the money for how good the board is.

I don't know much about CWB boards, but Buywake.com has a Pure w/Torq, only problem is that the torq bindings are small. I'm sure however that you may be able to sell the bindings for some amount of money, and then use that to pick up a 150 dollar or so pair of bindings your size. Here's the link. It's 200 dollars for the setup, plus shipping since it's a sale deal.

Which on second thought, I have some barely used 2004 O'Brien Plush Pro bindings. I think they're for size 10-13 feet. They're practically new. I don't know what the value on them would be, I'd guess around 50 bucks. I'd be more than willing to sell them to you. I've got a friend who may be buying a board soon and would need bindings, but if you want em, you got them.

Steve,

I have a 2007 Liquid Force Shane 140 that I am looking to sell. This is the same exact shape as the '08s and is very hard to find in this size. It is practically new and I could get it to ya for $250 including shipping. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

BoardersBestBuy.com is run by BoardersMall.com. I've seen the LF Watson 138, which is a really nice board, for as little as $163 + $25 shipping. But if you don't want to wait, they have for $199 + free shipping right now:

I'm almost the same size as you (5' 9" ~ 180) and thats what I ride.

I recommend looking for a 2007 CWB Faction board and binding combo---great set up, comes in a 138 or 144, continuous rocker with good pop and super soft landings!!!!!!!!! I love mine!

If I were you I'd get

It is $270 total but save for a while and upgrade your bindings in a few months. There are killer deals on boardersbestbuy and you can also find great top end bindings here in the classifieds. If you find a binding that looks like a good possibility then just start a thread and ask about it or use the search button for info.
