I just heard about this prop, is this a better prop than the 1235 on an 07 Malibu VLX? Im looking to push a ton of weight.

I don't have a wakeboat but from my research and experience here is my opinion:

the 1235 is a fantastic prop. I have had pulls behind boats with this prop quite often and love it. Gets out of the hole great with 3K lb's with the standard engine options.

Chattwake uses the 1235 and is impressed while pushing ~4650 lb's of ballast... but that's with his 400HP Raptor engine option in his axis.

When it comes to your VLX here's my opinion. The only time you would need to consider that 1615 is if you were trying to run close to 5K lb's with a stock engine option. If you have either of the 330hp options or the monsoon 340 in your boat and plan on running that much weight, take a look. If you have the 383 Hammerhead and want to run that much weight you will be fine with the 1235.

Please note that you will be bringing up your rev's at wake speeds and lowering your top speed with the 1615 prop, but you will be able to latch on and pull an entire marina into the deeps if your heart so desired!! 1235 is a super popular power prop, and for good reason. It's fairly likely the 1235 would suit your needs.

So I like to run full wedge, plus a couple thousand extra, and people on top of that. i have the 340 engine but the curent prop seems to stuggle out of the hole. should I be worried about my gas consumption with the 1615? and also how much top end loss? a few mph's, i dont care but top speed of 30 i might.

And yes 4-5k would be a nice wake.

hahaha..... the more ballast you have the worse the gas consumption is going to be. and with that much ballast, people, wedge you are looking at 7+ GPH. If you are worried about fuel consumption run less weight and use the 1235 as opposed to the 1615.

not sure about how much top speed you lose.

yes 4-5K will make a very nice wake.

My first step would be to get the 1235 and see how it works. If it isn't enough prop for you just pack it up and sell it. It won't be hard to sell as it's a super common prop. Even keep it as a spare. I'm doubting that will be the case though

I definitly know your right about the 1235 prop.I will give acme a call tomorrow just to see what there thoughts on the 1615 are. I do run a ton of weight and know the history of the 1235 i just heard about this new prop and figured it couldbe the next best thing. GPH is that big of a deal to me becuase i am using the 537 (stock) to push a ton of weight as it is. Bad GPH

Just got off the phone with Acme. They recomended I go with the 1615 becuase it will push more weight around and with the engine size this is the best choice.

I may have to go with this prop on my VTX, I'm running just about 3k at altitude, wiht the 340.

But Dwight, i will lose about 5-7 mphs off the top end but it should push 4000 lbs with no problem.

Our 14.75 X 13 is another option for the application. This prop provides very strong low end with loads over 3,500 lbs. Prop is used on the PWT boats as well as boats that pull the World's.

The 1235 is a great prop, but I will say it struggles with my Monsoon 340 fully weighted...especially if I use the wedge. I'll usually have to pull it up to get on plane and this isn't at altitude. So running that weight I bet the 1615 will be better for you.

I'm going to try and get that prop, though I'm also interested in the OJ prop from above. I don't care about top end, I much more care about getting out of the hole and on plane while weighted. The VTX is a little boat and I thought the 1235 would solve my issues. While it did make it better my boat still struggles

The 14.75 X 13 is very strong on the low end. Axis is currently using the prop as well.

Is the OJ prop running around $600 mark like the acme?

Depends on the dealer but should be close or less than those.

So we are thinking of getting this prop. We tried running about 5k worth of ballast plus wedge and it was not happening with the raptor 400 and 1235 prop (I assume it is the 1235 it is the high altitude prop Axis offers). We had to pull up the wedge and drain a decent amount of the rear ballast to get it to plane. That was with 5 people in the boat and someone riding. We are at 5k ft of elevation so we lose about 15% of our hp due to the altitude. Anyone have any idea about what the top speed will be with the 1615? We are hoping we can still hit 35 or so. Doesn't really matter as our lake is pretty small and we rarely have to go full speed on it for any reason. Boat currently runs 43mph as the top speed. For whatever it is worth the ballast set up was the factory 900lbs, 1100lb surf sacs in the rear lockers as full as we could get them, front plug and play bag full which should be around 950lbs and 2 550lb sacs in the bow.

is the 1615 better than the 1464?

Thats more of a question for Acme, I called them and they paired me with this prop. It mostly depends on elivation, engine size and how much you like to ride with. Im on the extreme side, without the elivation. the 1235 is a great prop, I just drive a tank, the 1615 may not suit your needs.
