Tracing boats history from registration numbers.

Hi,

I'm in the UK and just boat a boat via a dealer over here and Its obviously been imported from the US. I can see the original Utah reg numbers on the hull and its was full of us coins.

Is there anyway to trace the history or original owner from the numbers?

I live in Utah. If it were my boat, I'm not sure I'd want anyone snooping around and finding out personal information on me.

I don't think you can unless the Department of Motor Vehicles will give out that information. The dealer who sold you the boat should have been able to give some suggestion of its history to their knowledge.

Yes, it is public infomation. Simply request it.

The thing is the dealer is being a arse and is trying to stiff us on some items after we paid for the boat.

I'm just trying to find the previous owner to see if I can confirm the engine hours and other things.

Karl, who do I request it from seeing as I'm in the UK?
