I'm sanding my teak for the first time. I want to know what you guys recommend for the grit?
thanks.

It all depends on how weathered the wood is but to be on the safe side start with 100 grit and see how it goes.

Sand paper clogs really fast on teak. It's the high oil content. Use a scotch brite type stripping pad or use bronze wool. (Don't use steel wool) It will do a good job and you can reuse it every time you want to do the deck.
If you're going to use paper don't use finer than 100.

I used 60 on mine, but it was in pretty bad shape. I didn't bother to sand with anything finer because the texture with 60 felt good and I was worried about making it too slick.

I used 60, 80, and 120.

i just did mine over the weekend.i used 60 sand paper as well
this is what i started with.
scrub (i found some cheap labor)
sand rinse and let dry
apply oil
i am real happy with the way it came out not to slippery. its a little darker than some but i think its just the wood it always got darker than most when wet.

Fresh ~~ I just did my buddies Teak just the other week and it turned out perfect. I did it all in 320 Grit with 3 different wet sands. Then I used cleaner then brightener and two heavy coats of Teak oil.

P.S.
The bottom looks as good as the top!
