Hey all,
I am having trouble installing my new Stargazer on my 01 vlx. I have the servo installed no problem. I wired everything up and turned the key and....no power. Everything else has power, but the perfect pass has no power at all. I must have the power or ground or both hooked up wrong. I hooked the purple wire to the ignition where all the other purple wires were going to. I took off one of the wires and then piggy backed the pp purple wire onto the same small screw, then screwed it back in how it was. For the ground, I could not find the grounding bar. It was dark. I found another bolt and nut coming the the fiberglass from above and grounded it there. Where am I going wrong???

When I turned the key it was incessantly beeping without stopping. please help!

Jeff

Fix your ground first. This isn't a car. When you attach to a bolt...you are attaching to just that. A bolt in fiberglass, with no electrical connection to the rest of the boat/electrical/motor.

Grab a flashlight, find the ground bar, and do it right. The 05 generation has a ground bar up under the side, in front of the drivers armrest.

PP is VERY sensitive to proper voltage, so don't take shortcuts. Find the proper ground source, and then see if your power wire works.

Not positive on malibu wiring, as its been a while.....but Purple on a key switch is often the "start" wire, not Ign power. So, my guess is once you fix your ground....it will only work when the key is in teh start postiion, cranking the boat,

Take your time, pull out a 12v. tester (or ****, a lightbulb with leads), and test your connections first. Make sure its good with the key on, and off with the key off.

No other suggestions needed - get it grounded or it won't turn on. On our 01 SS VLX, the grounding bar is attached to the fiberglass a couple inches up and towards the front of the boat in relationship to the circuit breaker panel (which is not on the fiberglass, of course). Not hard to find - look for the thing with a bunch of black wires going to it.
