Can water hurt the inside of a damaged board

I bought a board off ebay and it came in with a damaged molded fin, a pretty bad crack at the tail edge, and a pretty bad chip on one side. I am pretty sure that the visible damage can be repaired but is it possible that if the previous owner has been riding it, it has damaged the core? For reference it is a 2007 Marius which the seller stated to have only been ridden 15ish times. Not that I believe a word he says since it was listed in "excellent" condition.

yes it can, water can get inside and stay in there, i would bring it to ur local shop and see if they can repair it or have a repair kit. or maybe it can be sent in for warranty. good luck

Water can not get inside the core of your board, the core is made of closed cell foam that does not absorb water. The only way water can get trapped inside the board is if the fiberglass is delaminating from the core, then water will get between the two and your board could get heavy.
