Spare Tire Gate for Lifted Trucks

I'm looking for a spare tire gate for my f-350. Tired of getting flats and not having another wheel with a 35" tire ready to go.

I would like to keep my existing tail gate in place and mount a gate w/spare that latches to the tailgate, and swings out.

Anyone seen anything like this? Or, anyone have any better ideas? I tow a lot, so the receiver mounted gate is not an option. I considered a roof rack, but then I wouldn't be able to get into parking garages.

Like on the back of the older 4runners?

What about a compressor, and a plug kit? Thats what I have and has worked fine for me.

A spare 35" is gonna be one big arse tire hanging off the back of your truck.

Maybe you could store it on top of your cab.

or make a bar mount in the bed of the truck.

Thanks guys. Those are beter than what I found earlier.

I never thought of just carrying a plug kit. I guess that would work as long as I can find the puncture, and as long as the hole is repairable.

Since you tow the one that has the tire in back instead of hanging out might be better. Won't the one hanging out be close to what you're towing?

The ones that extend out and replace the tailgate, can also be mounted in reverse, so the tire is pointing in toward the cab and not out by your boat. They are real nice in my opinion, but if you need the bed room and towing at the same time, they might not be the best idea. Not to mention it looks simply pimp! My neighbor has the bed mount but with the weight of the tire, it's a pain to get in and out of a lifted truck. Seems like the tailgate replacement would work well mounted reverse.

J-Rod I have had Full Size (35x 12.5) spare tires under both of previous F350s ...in the stock location. MY current truck only has 33.5s and I carry a full size spare there as well.

have you tried putting a full size spare under the bed?

All those spare carriers look great. I wouldnt recomend one though. We had a truck come in last month with one similar and the whole bed needed to be replaced due to stress cracks all over. Beds were not designed to carry that much weight hanging off the back and bouncing around. As stated above allot of guys run them underneath thier trucks depending on which frame and options you have.

it fit on my 99 and 02....the 03 has 33.50 underneath it. worth a try.

Just toss it on the top of the scamper. You never roll anywhere without it anyway.
