Battery Question

OK this maybe a stupid Question but here goes.

How do you check the quality of your Battery?

Two weeks I went to start the Boat and it almost didn’t turn over. Granted it has been sitting since Oct but I just got it back from being serviced so I assumed it would have be charged.

The rest of the day it started fine, but in the back of my mind I was worried.

I will be going out this weekend to Lake Mead and would hate to have dead battery.

I put a multi meter on the battery last night and it read 12.26 V, so it appears to be holding a change from two weeks ago.

Anything else I should do to check the battery?

12.26 is a little low you should be around 12.5. It's not 100% charged at 12.26 but will do the job. you could always pull it out and have it load tested. Hook it up to a charger (trickle) and see if you can get it up to 12.5-12.6 if it holds yrou batteris are fine. IF nto yoru still ok, but know your batteries are holdign a full charge.

Kragen, Grand Auto, Pep Boy's ect, can check a battery for you for free. They have a load tester and they can place a load on the bat. Thats the best way to see if you have a dead cell. Some batteys might look goood wth high or normal voltage bit as soon as you put a load on them thats when you see if the battery is good.
