Missoula Montana?

Looks like I could be spending my summer there if I'm lucky and raise enough money, I've never been there before has anyone ever been and has anyone ever ridden there? Better yet, does anyone live there that would be willing to give me a pull this summer? Any feedback on the area or riding possibilities would be awesome. Thanx guys!

Bess- I'm a Montana native and I have to say that there really isn't much there. Camping is great! Your nearest & best chance to wake is the Clark Fork River or Flathead lake due north of Missoula but it's quite a drive. here is an area map. Good Luck!

Thanx a bunch guys, Robert how do you like the area (besides the fact that there's not much there)? The mountains safe to hike alone? I'd be going for a summer photography program but am interested in possibly living there for a little while if I like it.

Well, I lived in Bozeman & Helena until I was five and then moved to Wa. My Aunt lives in Lincoln(n.e. of Missoula), So the last time I was there was a year ago. We drove through there,Interstate 90 goes right past there(you can actually look down at the entire city from 90. There is a lots of things to do. I love the area because all of my family is there, and the hunting, fishing, and camping there is awesome. As for hiking alone? Do watch out, there is LOTS of bear, and cougars. But If I was to move anywhere esle from here this would be one of my first spots! Hope this helps Bess.

Oh yea, well originally it was going to be me and one of my friends (this was back in 03) but niether of us could afford to do the whole trip but we REALLY wanted to do a trip cause we had just graduated HS and we always talked about doing a huge roadtrip when we graduated. Anyway, we ended up going to Montreal for the cable tour (cause Allison had never been to a cable park and I had never been to a real wake event before). It was super fun and I still really want to do a huge roadtrip where we travel arround and meet everyone and ride and stuff. And I will someday for sure. Just throw all the boards in the car and hit the road... that'd be sweet. It'll be a couple years though cause i need to work this whole yr to save up. I know for sure in 06 I'm going to go to Missoula, MT then where I go at the end of that summer is totally up in the air and if I have enough money saved I'd like to hit the road then and end in Orlando in the winter. Just an idea. Who knows for sure tho. I'll defenitly give you a heads up if I can get some people together to do it. Or if I get the money together.

Bess,

You need to check out Swan Lake while you're there. Yeah, it's a bit of a drive, but it is unreal. I spent two weeks there last summer with a few riders and another photographer and had a blast. The lake is something like 9mi long and 1/2mi wide, and tons of calm spots.

Ty Udell, LF regional rider, has a house on Swan Lake. Definitely check it out. We never saw another wakeboard boat on the water, and most days we would only see 1-2 other boats out all day.

damn, montana is so sick, they got it all, glacier national park rocks, and that lake looks oh so hot!

Bess, listen to Mike. Swan was going to be my suggestion for that area as well. I was born and raised in MT. Flathead Lake is beautiful, but cold and hard to find good water.

Sweet! Now you guys got me extra stoked to go, I thought summer of 06 I wouldn't be able to ride at all. How far is swan lake from Missoula? Mike, are you familiar with the photo school out there, Rocky Mountain School of Photography? Do you think Ty would be willing to give me a pull?

I am from Missoula and there are allot of lakes like Swan around there, you just have to be willing to drive a little. Sealy Lake and Salmon Lake are about 1 hour away to the north-east. Swan is more north of Missoula and is a little farther away, but not bad. There are also allot of lakes to the south of Missoula. The hard thing about riding in Montana is finding other people that do it. I am not saying there isn’t anyone but you might have to do a little searching.

Ty and his Bro. Ian are great guys and I am sure if you happen to catch them when they are around they would give you a pull.
