I bought 4 flags today (I couldn't help myself) and will be flying them soon.....I've been seeing them out recently so hopefully it will catch on (see post how to id WW).

Sean, I am flying them on the X1... I might have seen you on the river before. I saw a back Centurion with green sripe, drove by kind of close, said you name a couple of times but nobody responded...

Flea market. If you dont know what a flea market is, its like a real life ebay for rednecks. You can get everything from used underwear to a set of teeth. Whenever i'm feelin down, i can go to the flea market and just take a look around and instantly feel so much better about myself; better than a shrink by far.

Which should tell you something if you'll find pirate flags there. I really don't wanting to be asking myself "Is that a WWer or white trash, because it's certainly one or the other (or maybe even both)." I think a different identification scheme would be better.

Pirate flags are gay, just like putting a name on the back of your boat. Its a desperate cry for help saying "Look at ME!! I'm legit! I'm Cool! Don't you see my pirate flag? Don't you hear my $10 Kraco sub woofer I got at the Auto parts store distorting? Don't you hear the Kid Rock playing on my cassette player? My mullet says I am a partier, Look! Look!" If you want to be legit I can suggest some better ways and none of them require a pirate flag:

1. Cut off your mullet tail and throw away your wife beater. Your Styrofoam cooler and Pabst beer is not impressive either. They went away with the pirate flags in 1991.
2. Learn the rules of the lake and how to operate a boat properly. Every time I see a boat with a pirate flag its a Bayliner filled with 16 year old boys driving their dads boat for the day. They criss cross the lake diagonally pulling a tube and occasionally wakeboard when the water is too rough to tube anymore. They do power turns to pick up the rider and generally screw up the water for the rest. When they run out of beer and gas they flag down another boater for a tow back to the launch.
3. Turn your distorting stereo down. It impresses nobody and a really good quality stereo doesn’t need to be played at max volume for solid sound.
4. Meet some class woman and bring them out on your boat. If they are class they will not be impressed by your pirate flag.
5. Meet some other boaters on the lake. They will think you are a punk if you have your stupid pirate flag up so take it down and burn it in effigy while thanking me for saving you from a life of embarrassment and humiliation.

I rock the flag on a real boat Jon Boy. I also rock the Kid when I feel the need. My system will blow your ear drums with crystal clear sound from DefconIV's, and my wake will swamp your little boat.
The flags represent what being on a boat is all about - having fun and forgetting about the real world for a weekend. You really need to lighten up Jonny - this sport and lifestyle is about having fun - however you represent it.

Most new wakeboarding boats are all blinged out, system'd up and look dope. I don't buy my boats to make people look at them....but sometimes they just can't help it.

GAAAAARRRRR!!!!

what i find odd is that this 37 year old nutjob rides a parks board and bindings. can we say POSER?

with a silly ass quote like "don't hurt yourself, it will ruin your summer". You better get a knee brace buddy. your asking for an injury with equipment above your ability

Learn the rules of the lake? Meet a class Woman? How about you learn some damn respect before you come on here and start rippin'

then wants to inform us on the do's and don'ts of enjoying this sport. get a grip. You're way out of your element, Jonny

If you are in Texas or Lousiana and want to fly a Pirate flag then you have to fly the flag of Cartagena. That's the flag that the greatest American Pirate of all time flew, Jean Lafitte!

@amn">D@amn! So much hate so early in the mornin.

Jon,
You gotta admit you deserve every flame you get. Your comments were uncalled for and in poor taste.

If you dont fly the a pirate flag; fine, thats your choice. If you want to talk about how you dont like them, great! These forums are all about the free exchange of ideas.

If you were trying to let people know you don't like them, you went about it the wrong way. Blanket personal attacks aren't the way to do it though. Your comments only made you look ignorant. Making statements like yours will only make people think you dont have the mental capacity to form a rational argument.

The other alternative is that the sole purpose of your post was to incite anger in fellow board members and elicit the heated responses that you've received. If thats the case, that makes you a TROLL, and you should just take your pointless rhetoric elsewhere.

Just to add my opinion on the actual TOPIC of this post. I personally wouldnt fly a pirate flag. They're just a little tacky for my taste. Thats my opinion, which i'm entitled to express. If someone else wants one though, more power to them. Hmmm, I just expressed on opinion without pi$$ing the entire board off. What a novel idea!

How bout an American Flag? Last time i checked there's nothing uncool about being patriotic.

Cheers,
DKJ

You gotta admit, even though Jons comments were sterotypical, for a minute, he painted the picture of a ton of Walleys I have seen on the lakes in my area.

I personally think Pirate flags are entertaining for about 5 minutes.

With the flag of Cartagena people really wonder what the hell is going on or what flag it is, it's pretty funny.

The only time that we have flown our flag is on our spring break trip to Bull Shoals in MO. There was no one else on the lake.

The flag was an impulse buy that we made on the way down, after a four hour trip, we saw this 8 dollar flag, and cracked up for about 20 minutes over whether we should pick it up or not. Finally, we got enough money pooled from very tight pockets to get it.

It was just a big joke, and a fun one at that. If you think that everyone who flies a pirate flag is having some sort of identity crisis, you need to reevaluate your standpoint. Its all in good fun man.

I thought it was a way to spot fellow "wakeworlders" so I put up two small ones on my tower -- and my light pole one has the "surrender your booty" flag.

Word to the wise for those who have not "invested" in one of these flags...

1. Children will constantly ask if you are a pirate (happens DAILY)

2. The girls that laugh and think that your flag is cool ARE NOT the ones you take home to mom -- but the girls you take home to mom are boring anyways! :-)

This coming from a 26 year old pirate flag flyer that wishes he was still 16! :-)

I tied my to the tower pylon and used a couple zip ties, I also have a cord from the top of the flag to the front of the tower brace. You get moving, and that flag wants to blow in the wind.

How about this one? And if you are wondering... No, I don't have one, and besides... my wife wouldn't let me fly it anyways. But I have seen them on boats.. but more often on flagpoles in folks yards.

If seen several over 40 guys who stick some sick shi%, and yes some of them wear knee braces, and so will you if you're lucky enough to still be riding. BTW, dude fer sure knew the flames were coming, he was having some fun no doubt. BTW, I fly a pirate flag on my pontoon boat....

airmous - it had nothing to do with his age at all! more power to him and anyone else who rides at that age. you're right, i hope to still be riding then. it was more about the way he said what he did. anyone with a pirate flag (or even talking about one) doesn't know the rules of the lake or how to operate a boat?? gimme a break....

sorry if it came off like that...

Attila, I never thought this thread would catch. I was just announcing it to you Sac River Rats so you can keep an eye out for me. That was me that you saw. I saw your boat too, wasn't sure it was you, and after that day I tried to revive the Pirate Flag posts to make sure it was you, (you were the example of "seeing them lately"). That was the final straw in finally buying them.

Any by the way. I just got them in the mail today. I will be flying them high and proud in no time.
