After reading the numerous threads on NVS vs Skylon tower speakers I've pretty much decided to order the NVS. I wish to also replace the Clarion cockpit speakers in my 04 X-30. I'm trying to improve the overall sound quality. Anyone with actual experience replacing the stock speakers? JDL, Polk? Confused in GA...please help

I hear many people say good things about the Infinity Kappa Marine speakers. You can find them for about $100 per pair. I may go with those when I upgrade.

Harold,

I would recommend you take it one step at a time. You will probably find that the NVS pretty much make your interior speakers just for background music at low listening levels, the Clarions might work fine. Spend that extra money on a better amp for the NVS's.

If you are dead set on replacing them the Infinity's are good (I used the car variant in my old boat), the new Polks, the db Polks, are speakers that I have used with good results. Remember it's as much in the installation as the speaker itself. Make sure they are sealed to the mounting surface. If the path between the front and back of the speaker is short a set of XTC baffles might help (not to mention keeping the elements away from the wiring).

Take it one step at a time.

Mikeski:
NVS offers the addiction speakers packaged with a Zapco 500w amp. Whats your thoughts on this amp to drive the NVS speakers? Thanks for your response.
