Brand New 2009 Company Recruit 135.. Looks like the top glass was "over-drilled" on a few of the inserts.

Is this going to be a problem for me?

Shouldn't be a problem at all. The way boards are built anyways is they lay glass over the whole top of the board. Then the holes for the inserts are drilled out. If you don't like the look you can just take a drill bit a bit larger then the hole and bevel it just a little bit. You can pretty much do it by hand.

I'm not familiar with how wakeboards are made... Specifically flex boards (where I believe the inserts are NOT linked together).

If the hole in the top of the glass is too large, what keeps the inserts from coming out?

Anyone?

It's not the glass topsheet that's holding the inserts in. I'm assuming flex board construction, specifically the inserts, is similar to snowboard construction. If that's the case they're set into the core of the board with epoxy and they're usually a t-bolt shape where the bottom of the insert is 3 times wider than the part you see. The holes drilled into the core are the width of the narrow part and the wide t-shape at the bottom of the insert is what holds them in. Make sense?

Makes perfect sense! Thanks!

I've heard of people pulling inserts, so I was just wondering if they were the same width all the way down.

If its not going to affect performance I don't care. The bindings will be covering most of the problem inserts anyway...

I only care if it will affect performance...
