I was messing around on the Mastercraft site today at work and I ran across the new Mastercraft 300. If I were in the market for that type of boat I would defiantly consider it.
What do you guys think?

Seriously? Mastercraft makes a great boat, but there are too many choices in the over 200k market. I would go for a really nice house boat over a 300.

No kidding...house boats are sweet! But if money wasnt an issue it would be a cool boat to cruise around in!

I don't think I would ever be in the market for that type of boat.

People that are considering that type of boat already have a Houseboat/Yacht and are looking for something smaller to cruise in.

You said it Eyez. Pretty sharp boat. I would like to see it in person. Don't hate guys.... If it was Malibu you'd love it.

I like the idea alot and the design is very sleek, almost Riva-like.

I think it is a very nice boat but would you buy a 200k+ Mastercraft? I know I wouldn't buy a 200K 30' Nautique that's for sure. ''stick to what we know''.

I doubt they would have gone through making it unless there was some demand. I heard that in Dubai they are snatching up X-80 like crazy.... and wanted something bigger.... so MC did that.

does anyone know if a 300 has sold yet?
Old     (loonytik)      Join Date: Apr 2008       04-16-2009, 6:29 AM Reply
The last report I saw said that production has not begun on the boat. There is only one and it is located in Tennessee at the factory at the moment.

For the price most people would lean toward Meridian Yachts, not the 300. If you want luxury, Mastercraft cant hold a candle to Meridian.

meridians are made by the same company that makes bayliners...........

Andrew smacks one down! hmmmm

MC would have to figure they have a way to access the buyers for that market, since they are not known there. But if you manage to hit up the wealthy with money to burn, with a very attractive new quality luxury toy, maybe a few of them would want to be the first to have it??

Andrew,

Brunswick also owns brands such as Hatteras and Cabo, not to mention other well known brands as Sea Ray, so I don't think that argument holds much weight.

That has been MCs business model for a while now, regardless of the 300, and it's worked quite well. Their CEO mentioned that their median customer makes a quarter million annually, which means a tremendous amount of their customers have "money to burn". I'm sure people will buy the crap of out that thing once it's available.

EDIT: "for a while now" actually has a specific date as far as I'm concerned- since they discontinued the entry level sportstar series. MC has had a completely different business model since then. I suspect their finance geeks learned a s***load during the stretch they were making those $19K boats.

for that money u can get a bigger and better performing cobalt and lets face it who doesnt want the luxury of a cobalt.

How much is the thing?

It looks just as nice as a cobalt to me. The only thing that I wouldn't like about it is the fact that its a DD, and would have a limited top speed.

I think if you compare it to the Cobalt 303, the MC 300 looks WAY more luxury to me.

In the words of T.I. "never mind what haters say"

haha, click on the link and watch the video. Its a little over the top..."experience the drama of the 300"!

They have already sold 3 to people from Dubai.
It is super luxury cabin trimmed out perfect. No Cobalt comes close. MC did their homework and knew that they had to build it extra plush and nice to compete in that price range market. Seeing it online does it No justice.

Yeah...go hop on a Meridian then relate that to them also building bayliners.

right on Billy, was just curious if they were getting pre-orders on them or if they are in full production. What is the build time on one of those, do you know?

Billy, where are you getting your info from?

That boat looks every bit as plush if not more plush than a cobalt.

Sorry, but in the world of yachts Meridian isn't known as one of the nicer boat. For the price it is a nice boat though.
