I am currently the proud owner of a 2002 Mastercraft X-10. The boat has a little over 200 hours on it and is in great shape. However, as the boat gets a little older, I was thinking of updating the boat to an 08 MC X-15. I think that the X-15 is essentially the updated version of the X-10. the VDig, the Drive By Wire, the new Perfect Pass, and the hard ballast tanks are all the most appealing reasons to upgrade. Has anyone had any problems with their X-15s? Also before I pull the trigger on the 08, what changes are coming in '09 and beyond. The last thing I would want to do is buy a boat that will be vastly improved on the very next year. Thanks for the help. By the way, andy X-15 owners with pictures, I'd love to see some color options.

Just picked up my '08 X-15 the other day and love it the VDIG system is awesome also the boat has so much room we traded in our 25' cruiser for it and it doesn't feel any smaller than our old boat did I don't think the '09 models would change other than the graphics design being that the current X-15 has only been around for 2 years now I think it might be another 2-3 more years before we see a X-20 or whatever the replacement will be called

Wait til next year on the 15. I know there are some changes coming to the X-Star in 09, I would imagine there are some changes to a few other models to, but who knows.

I doubt that the 15 would have any big changes in 09. The boat is just too new for them to make changes that soon. The 15 will be a very big change from the 10 you currently have. You will notice a big difference in the interior size.

The X-15 has only been in the line for two years, the VDIG is brand new. I would bet that the X-15 won't change for another 3-4 years. There will probably be some small updates but nothing major. BTW that boat is awesome, its my second favorite in the MC line.

There will be minor changes, like there are every year. That's a new boat though, and a great one at that. I wouldn't be afraid to pull the trigger this year. The ride and wake is awesome. It'd be a nice step up from the X-10 (which is a great boat in it's own right). From what I understand the wake is second only to the X-star in the MC line.

I looked at an X15 at the boat show and I was very impressed. It looked very roomy compared to alot of the other boats in the line. Seems like they wouldn't make any major changes just yet.

Josh What changes do you know of? We just visited the factory to watch our new boat being built and besides some minor interior stuff nothing is really going to change from what everyone said there. I got to see some of the 09 stuff though. (Message edited by mofreestyle on March 28, 2008)

They might change towers, graphics, interior etc. But to re shape/design a hull after only 2 yrs of production would be way too costly. Most likely a few cosmetic changes but thats it. I would buy the 08 cuz every year the boats go up in $$$ and you could probably get a much sweeter deal on a 08, especially in the current economy. I would even look for an new 07, that would be HUGE savings, with not if any differences. SaltwaterX15, your boat looks awesome btw. Sweet boats guys... If I was in the market the X-15 and the X-Star would be my two choices. Both are beautiful boats. The X-15 is a bit more conservative looking, but it's a better big water boat. Both make a great wake and both have tons of space inside. I really like how short they've made the engine compartment on the X-15. No wasted space. That boat was a great addition to the X-boat line. Bryan, Rear ballast is under the floor in every MC X boat except for the 205 hull(X1- 2 rear tanks, one center under) and the X7 (prostar 197 w/rear ballast under rear seat). The X15 is a very popular boat up here in Boston and without a doubt produces a great riding wake and is a solid surf boat as well.

I think I would buy the X15 over the X-Star. The wake on the 15 looks super steep. Nice boat. Sleeper for sure!

Micheal, not to sure of the exact changes to the star in 09, but there will be changes according to some pretty reliable sources higher up than me. supposedly, the hull will be totally redesigned. I would be fairly leery of trusting word from your dealer, because if they tell you there are going to be changes in 09, they won't sell as many 08s will they? just sayin', dealers might be using some buisness strategy and not letting people in on the changes, if they are changing anything. I don't work in MC R&D, so I'm not even positive on a change, but I have heard it from a few pretty reliable sources that there will be one!! Your 15 looks solid by the way, I caught a glimpse of it over on TMCowners, and love the color scheme!!
