I am coming from a 2001 San 210 and looking at getting a new boat next year. I really love the 230 wake but would like a little smaller boat. Alot of people say it isn't as good as the older 210 hull.

Gotta say my buddies is freaking great. Big and peaky. Heard a bit more rampy compared to the old 210. If my friend ever finishes his ballast set up on his old 210 I would be able to give you a good comparison.

We ride behind a '09 210 all the time and absolutely love it. I've ridden behind a lot of hulls, and in my opinion the wake is what I would consider a mix between an older 210 and a newer vlx. Has the steepness of a classic nautique, but the added transition of a vlx. Not as abrupt as the older hull, but I think it makes up for it in sheer volume. It still porpoises a bit and is still a little finicky from left to right (so sometimes in less than perfect water its tough to keep clean), but all in all, HUGE wake.
We ride with 4-5k of ballast (depending on how many people are on board) @ 23 mph / 75-83ft line.
I know its not the best video for telling what the wake looks like, but it gives you a general idea.
I'll try and find a photo or a better video of the wake

Halloween ride from last year. Gumby is 6'2, 23mph 78 ft. I believe we only had ~3500lbs in it that day.

sounds like it takes more weight to get it going...old hull is cherry at 2500 lbs. or so...you need more poundage?

I guess. Depends on what you're doing.
The stock wake is still VERY good at 21.5 / 22 mph @ 70 / 75 ft.

I guess my question is really how does it compare to the 230? Does it get as big? I absolutely love the 230 wake. I just never see any proa riding a 210 seems like they all ride the 230 now.

Why not test ride one and judge for yourself. Would you just buy one based on the posts here?

Well if I could just walk out my front door and jump in one I would. The nearest cc dealer is two hours away and everyone I know that has a nautique has a 230.

Wakeskater here so I don't see myself ever moving up to a 230 from a 210. We've had a 2007, 2009, and 2012 is on order. 210 wake is money with stock ballast and 5-6 people in it IMO. I ride at 21-22 at 65'.

Similar shaped wake. I think JDwebb rides a 210.
If you're looking strictly at wake size & volume, then if a maxed out 230 wake is a 10 (on a scale from 1-10), then I would rate a slammed 210 around a 8.5 / 9 in comparison. I'm not sure most people would be able to tell the difference or even care. The wake is massive.
The 210 is a little better on gas for whatever reason, and drives better, but takes some time to plane, hauling that much weight around.

jd rides a 230 but sounds like the wake is better than I have heard before. Everyone I talked to before said it didnt hold a candle to the 230. The reason I started the thread is I dont really see the point in tracking someone down to ride with 2 hours away if the boat doesnt sound like something that I like. I really love the 230 but they are harder to find in my price range with decent hours. Anyone in KY have a slammed 210?? haha

I came from the old 210 wake and thought I would never like another wake more than that one. Well, I was wrong. I now have a 2008 SAN 210 and it is sick. You just have to weight it right. You need as much weight in the rear of the boat as possible while still allowing it to plane out. I have stock ballast plus 400s on each side of the engine, 300 lbs of lead in the cabin under the seats, ski locker sac (~350 lbs.), and under bow sac (~350 lbs.). Here's a pic of mine...

Oh ya, and I've rode a loaded down 230 as well. Both are sick wakes, but I feel the 230 has a little wash on the lip of the wake where the 210 is cleaner and a little steeper maybe. But again, both are super good.

The new 210 wake is my fav in the line up. It does take quite a bit of weight but once there it is money, good mix of transition and pop, thick and meaty.

Erik,
Stock + 2 fly highs plumbed in the rears (400lbs each), and 1000lbs of lead which is spread out amongst the bow and under the seats.
Love it!
