Andy I won't get into specs same as nubu... but the H2 and the F350 are both extremely well equipped. And road experience as well as offroad experience show me that. I don't know what he has but he doesn't know what these have either, but I will tell ya. It aint easy to spin 37's on all wheel drive H2. Point is it's fun to see and hear what others are running... there isn't a Cummins Poerstroke or Duramax I'd dog on, it's just a fun conversation. Dont ya think?

I have a 08 F250. It pulls my boat like a champ and the gas mileage keeps getting better.

The twin turbos spool up quickly and it gets off the line fast (for a truck). When I am towing the boat I can accelerate, enter the highway, pass and get around most others. It runs so well I have to keep in mind how much the total rig weighs and keep the speed reasonable.

When I first got it I was getting 10-11mpg with mostly city driving and a heavy foot. At 3k miles it improved to 13. I am now at 5k and am getting 16.

On the highway I am now getting between 20 and 22mpg. When towing my boat it is around 16 hwy and 13 city. I keep hearing that the engine isn’t fully broken in till 50k or so and that is when the best mpg starts. Best part is I am already very happy with it and – it keeps getting better.

Larry you might just be getting the best mileage of any ford truck ever made, congrats

Larry, are you getting your mileage from the readout on the dash, or are you breaking out the calculator and doing the math.

I'm having a hard time believing you are getting 20-22 on the freeway in that beast.

I am getting out the calc and doing the math at fill-up. I am filling the tank up to where I can see the fuel at the top of the fill hose. I am using the dash read out when looking at mpg between fill-ups.

I do feel lucky. I traded in a burned up Expedition (cruise control cut-off fire took care of it once and for all) that was getting 7-9 in the city or when towing on the highway and 12-14 on the highway with nothing in tow. At best I was hoping to get 13-15 in the F250. I ran 360 miles on the last fill up (22.5 gal @ $1.89).

My father-in-law just picked up an F250 with a similar set up and he is getting around 11-12. He just traded in a 02 (150k mi) that was getting 18-19 with a chip set and exhaust. He is expecting this one to improve just like his old one. He keeps telling me 50k mi is the break in spot.

nu bu, my gut would tell me somewhere around Dallas....I just saw Diesel by my house today for 3.69. WTF??

I still call shenanegans.

I know of several owners of the 08' PSD that get NOWHERE near that kind of mileage.

Larry, not saying I don't believe you, but all the owners I have spoken with would die for 16MPG to a gallon vs, 20-22 the trucks would be flying off the lot. If the 08's were pulling that mileage, I would not hesitate to buy one.

I understand the doubt. It's cool if you don't believe me. If my mpg never changed from what it is now I would still be very happy. It is more than I expected when I made the purchase.

I am pretty sure I'm not the only one, so I have been doing more research online this am and here is a link on some other info I found.

Decide for your self. On some of the other forums there is discussion of the accuracy of the mpg in this article. Depending on driving habits, traffic, towing, hills, truck modifications, etc. they are reporting lots of different results. From a low of 6.5 to a high of 17.3. Who knows...? I have the 3.73 gear and live in a very flat place and am thankful for what I have.

Larry
I get similar results from my 2006 f250 4x4

I just now am approaching 30,000 miles

if I leave a station and get right on the highway, it will register in the upper 20's

on this tank, I will get 490 miles
