Hey everyone, so I've been trying to throw a whirly for the last couple weekends and some last summer but the max I am spinning is a 90-180 degree turn. Heres a little video starting off with a tantrum and and ending with a whirly attempt. I pretty much don't spin at all though. I've watched countless instructional videos and understand what i'm supposed to do(I think?). One thing I think from looking at my attempt in my video is that i probably need a little less aggressive of an edge as well as try to throw the whirly a touch later then right off of the wake. I also ride a 95 bayliner so the wake is pretty small.

Funny, I just posted a video of my whirly and it appears we have the same problem. Hopefully we figure this one out! I feel like it has something to do with not getting the handle completely around to the other side so that the pull "unwraps" us. If that is the issue I have no idea how to fix it.

Haha I know man! I looked at yours as well, and we definitely need a little bit of guidance. We are definitely doing something (assuming small) wrong. I just sprained my ankle playing softball a couple nights ago so ill be out for just a couple weeks but i'd like to see if we can get someone to disect our attempts so we can land this bad ass trick!

Nick, can you do a whirly on the tramp? Before I even attempted them behind the boat I learned a regular whirly and whirly 5's on the tramp, I think this is the most important thing you can do before trying them behind the boat.

As far as what your doing wrong in the video... you need to focus on a couple of things which have been said over and over again in the whirly help threads. Your cut is definitely too aggressive, you need to concentrate on taking you tantrum straight up and wake to wake. Start you cut closer and try to think about squaring completely up at the wake and popping off your toes at the peak of the wake. If you look at your video the reason your not rotating at all is because your keeping your left arm extended towards the boat, when you initiate a whirly, you need to make sure you pop, then throw your left arm across your body towards your right shoulder in a "punching" motion. Another way of thinking of this...try to stick your left armpit in your face. At the same time look over your right shoulder and commit to the trick.
