Looking to buy an HD camera

I am looking into an HD camera but dont know where to start. Should i get one with a hard drive or one that uses tapes? What are the pros and cons of both?

I cant really find any cameras from any of that. I just wanna know some like models of HD cameras.

Im a big wan of the Canon XH-A1. I will be getting my own soon enough, but the footage from my friends has truely impressed me, and for HD speaking wont leave your pockets completly empty.
