I posted once and came up empty....I'll try again. With a shorter post.

I wanted some opinions on tower mounts.

1. Would you wire directly through the tower or with a exterior wireing harness?

2. Any need to be able to remove or swivel the speakers?

3. If you were buying would you want them empty (so you can buy your own or finished with popular speakers?

Thanks for the feedback.

I would wire directly through the tower so that no wire is showing cause that would just look ugly, there would be no need to move the speakers, because if they are faced forward or to the side the wind would hit the speakers when u are driving ur boat and possibly damage the speakers, and i would buy empty so that you can put in your own speakers, if u buy ur own speakers they will usually be cheaper and if those break u can always go and buy more well thats my opinion

Interesting question about swiveling the speakers.
It came up last year when we were playing vollyball and cooking on the beach. We had to turn the boat around so the new pair I am adding to my tower have that capablity. I wired through the tower so the wires are not seen. Since I also made the tower removable - the speaker wires have connectors on the end that plug into its mate on the hull next to one of pipes. As for buying cans without speakers in them - if you are willing to put some extra time and are handy with that sort of thing, you can end up with custom speakers that nobody else has.
