What are some good coast guard aproved life vests. And how much do padded vests help?

jet pilot baller...awesome vest to not be dis-aproved...the padding doesnt help near as much as you would think...just go with something that fits real snug and feels good...

ive got the neil pryde impact 5000, and find its really helpful when i take a blow to the ribs. it also seems pretty good for stopping wip lash on my back, so i'd assume it'd be pretty helpful if any damage where don't to you spin.

O'neil Mental. I tried on all the approved vests and the mental was the most comfortable and least restrictive. I have also heard the Jet Pilot Cellblock is the best, but nobody carried it locally and I was not going to buy it online without trying it on first.

I would highly doubt it. Also in my trying on all the differant vests I noticed that jet pilot vests ran HUGE compared to others. Also noticed that overtons' prices were higher then even my local boardshop. I got my mental for 130.00 at my local boardshop. It was listed at 159, but they hooked me up with a deal. Try your boardshop and beat em up on the price.

I wish I could but there arent any wakeboard shops here. There are all the boat stores that sell the products that arent as good so I will have to drive a pretty far distance to a shop or I will have to order off the internet.

These vests run a little bit bigger then others. I normally would wear a large but had to get a medium.
