Today at the Liquid Force demo in Knoxville, TN I got to ride both the Watson and Bonifay boards. For some comparison, I ride the Substance 138 usually:

I really liked the Watson's look (even the hologram in the middle of the board was done very well). I thought the Watson was really fast, definately the fastest LF board I've ever rode. Not my type of board, accelerated alot faster than the Substance in my opinion. LOADS of pop (I saw one of my friends throw the biggest tantrum that i'd ever seen him do), but not so abrupt you can't control it. Most people loved the landings, on both of the boards.

The Bonifay board was solid, I really liked the look (even though the gold picture frame seemed a little cheap). The LF rep gave us the info on the center picture, each board is individual. They take one of the 36 pics/fragmented pics (12 in each of the 3 colages on the back) and put it on the frontside frame. The frame could be located anywhere on the board inbetween the two bindings. Not sure if this is info already available on the net or not, but I figured I'd write it anyway. I liked the performance on this board more than the Watson. It didn't seem like it had as much abrupt acceleration as the Watson, but still fast (a couple of the other guys thought it was faster than the Watson). This board had pretty abrupt pop, and not so much it eliminated acceleration (alot of people kept into the flats). The cupped fins really locked in and went, I wish I had the money on the spot to get this board, I was generally really happy with it.

The Shane and Watson bindings didn't show up in time for the demo, but we got to ride all the other '06 stuff. I mainly rode the '06 Sphynx's, until the end of my set on the Bonifay board. Popped out of the bindings and the board slung around and hit me in the head, temporarily ending my riding for a little while. The '06 Transits seemed to be the big hit, they were sturdy as could be. Then again, we haven't got to ride the most anticipated bindings.

Anyways, we were pretty lucky to get to ride this stuff (and get tons of stickers, haha). It was alot of fun, and many thanks to the LF rep and American Boat Center for supplying the '06 Nautique! Definately was fortunate, lots of good riding and riders today

Yea man, the LF rep said we were some of the first in the country to ride the boards. Gave huge props to our local shop for putting in the effort.

Did you try the Watson and Parks Bindings? I rode the Watsons a cupple of months ago and was wondering how they compaired.

By Parks I guess ya mean Shane's? No, they didn't have either the Watson or Shane bindings, they were on late delivery. I did get to ride all the other LF '06 bindings, mainly stuck to the Sphynx though. Was pretty happy with em.

yea I ment the shanes sorry. Im not an expirenced rider but I loved the Watson Bindings. He gave me the 05 transits last season and I loved them. To me the the Watsons were similar to the transits. They flexed a little more and were way more comfortable. They also had a place for the extra string. It will be interisting to see what people say about the new Shanes. http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/1/260389.html?1129601477#

The little magnet holders for the clips are cool, they actually have a plastic clip that holds them in but as that gets worn down with use, the magnet takes over. Tight little system.

Hahaha, I want to get one of those no smoking marks/slashes and put it over the tindy grab on the board. Man Chuck, I was there from 10am till 6pm!! Wish I would have known you were th ere. I was on the first boat out there, what boat were you in? I saw a white Supra, an '05 SAN, and a white/red Tige. You could have tied off at our team dock there, we were all using it anyways!

I'm definately interested in going out this weekend, I'll give you a call tomorrow or so and see what's goin on. Yea man!

LF 2006 shane, 2006 watson, 2006 alphas, or 2006 transits, what are the best LF Bindings for 2006?

could i get some input?
Old     (loudontn)      Join Date: Feb 2005       10-19-2005, 8:44 AM Reply
Is that what you're riding Hill? tight, lookin forward to it

I really can't give you a good input on the "best LF bindings for '06" without riding the Watson/Shane bindings. Best ones I rode were the Sphnyx. Alot of people fell in love with the Transits, one tried to buy em on the spot. They were snug. I didn't ride the Alpha's.

yeah, i've got a supra 21v. so what's up? my phone's not ringing.....nobody wants to ride?

justin, you need to teach me those 5 tricks in 1 day soon. oh, and tell thomas the salmon cooker i said hi.
Old     (loudontn)      Join Date: Feb 2005       10-19-2005, 3:23 PM Reply
Yea, I definately saw you out there Chuck. You waved at us as you left when we were pulling a rider in.

I'd definately be up for riding, but after a conversation with my bank this morning, I'm a little...how do ya say...um, broke. I'm not one to ride without helping with gas, so it looks like this weekend I'm out. I really appreciate the offer, and I'll take ya up on it once I get paid, haha.

Im gonna go out on a limb and say the watsons will have the popularity of the transits next year. They look like a tweaked transit, the lace clips look hot, the moldable liner and the way it wraps around your leg seems like a very good idea. As long as LF can keep its bindings from coming apart the whole line is damn good
Alphas for 150 msrp?? FAST system and dual laces (which they shoulda done from the start) will be a very popular binding for beginners/intermediates
