3 or 4 fins?

I'm in the comparing boards process and I see Inland Surfer as a few of their boards with 3 and now the optional 4 fins. Do they do anything other than a bit more control? More fins=more drag?

nope 4 fins works way better than 3. its actually looser because of the placement. that is as long as they are set up corectly. i have been riding 4 large fins in my boards for a long time. you get added drive off the bottom and a looser turn off the top.

Sail boats with small keels are slower than sail boats with big keels. I'm sure there's a point of diminished returns. More or less the same thing applies.

Man Alumn Creek was so windy today even tubing was difficult.

Here's a board I just did with a quad set up. It's 5'1 and 24 inches wide. My buddy is 6'3 and weighs about 240. I'll take some pics of it this afternoon.

Matt Thanks. We've been building some boards lately. Not meant really to last that long. But that particular board was from a planshape that I made back in the winter from Aku Shaper. I then made a prototype from some Home depot foam that lasted a total of 3 sessions. We were happy with it and then did the evil outsourcing thing and got a nice epoxy board. We did two of them. A 5'4 and a 5'1. There is not much difference between the two. My buddy who is a fairly accomplished surfer loves this shape. He can snap it off the lip like no tomorrow. It's super stable too. We're thinking about putting a center fin in there. Today we experimented a lot with fin configuration. We got it really loose. For someone my buddy's size this board is perfect. He was trying to spin it today but not much luck. I actually think you could get on the nose of this thing. My son surfed it at the beach the other day. I pushed him into some tiny knee high surf and he stood right up and rode twenty feet or so.
