I've been reading up on batteries online over the last couple of day's and have narrowed my search down to these 3 batteries (kinetik hc1800/optima yellow top/odyssey).I'm running a dual battery set up so I plan on picking up two of whichever batteries fit my needs the best. My boat has a 3,000 watt system and I sit out on the lake alot with the stereo on/motor off. I've been running 2 yellow tops for a little over 3 years and have had a few problems with them dying on me. (probally my fault for not trickle charging them before heading out to the lake). I was going to pick 2 more up before coming across the odyssey's and kinetik's.
For me and my type of usage what would you guy's suggest? I'm leaning toward the kinetik's but am not sure if they are a deep cycle like my yellowtops?

I know theres got to be someone on here with a huge stereo system and has got there battery situation dialed in, if so please share the wealth. lol.
thank's in advance guy's!

1. Odyssey
2. Kinetik (why not the 2400's)
3. Optima

give us more details on your stereo and how long are you going to be playing it with your motor off

I had a true 2500 watt system on my X-80 and with 5 Optima D31M i could get 3 hours of playtime with the volume almost all the way up, if you are truely running 3000watts you are going to need more than 2 batteries to run it for any amount of time

I would use the kinetik it is a battery with all the benefits of a cap. There is a reason in ISACA SPL cars no one uses optima anymore.

thank's for the help guy's. with my yellow tops I was getting a little over 2 hours of music time almost full blast out in the water. I think i'm going to go with 2 kinetik hc1800's. The agm technology sounds pretty modern making the optima's look outdated.

Ummm the optima is an agm battery as well.

ahhhh, I was reading on a manufacturer's sight and got that mixed up. I believe it was "dc battery specialist"? To sum it up though the specs on how the kinetiks operate sound alot better.

Do a lot of you guys sit and rage your music for hours at a time? I've read that several times here on WW and I've never done it at more than maybe half volume if that and certainly not for hours at a time.

Hate I do it once a year on labor day at crescent bar. Most play time I got out of my setup was 3.5 hours full tilt with 4 optima's on the stereo bank. The older I get the less and less I feel like competing with the DB in the next boat with the distorted system turned up twice as far as it can handle.

oddesy and optima don't compare to Kinetic and Lifeline or even 2, 6 volts IMHO. Unless you run 4+ of them and at over $900 it makes no sense.
bang for the buck is Lifeline
Lifline 31 $275 for 105 amp hrs
Kinetic 2400 $369 for 128 amp hrs
Optima 31 $229 for 75 amp hrs

I would rather spend $100 more total on 3 lifelines than have 2 kinetics and have over 300 amp hrs.
