So I can't go out on the lake for a very good while (unless I want to destroy my boat) because of MASSIVE amounts of crap in the lake. I'm not talking about little tree limbs or some trash here and there...there are whole trees, and lumber, and tires and all kinda stuff everywhere due to all the storms in TX and the midwest. Any one else have this problem?

Lakes here are getting so full that they are closing the ramps. I'm sure the floaters will be long gone before we can hit it again.

A couple of our ramps are closed down here in Texas because of debris on the lake. This is especially a problem in our "home lake" due to the Guadalupe river running debris into the lake during storms.

Wasn't it just last year you Texas guys couldn't get your boats in the water because of ultra low water levels? If so what a turn about!

Now our lakes in Cali are loooowwwww, and we are headed for a drought with a nasty fire season coming too.

They haven't shut us down yet, but we ran the gauntlet last night at our spot. Not only is all the run-off creating debris, but the water level is so high that we're getting drifters from the shoreline that have been dry for 10 years! and yes, tx and ok have seen a drastic drought to flood condition turn-around. I think we were 12 feet low last year (which is a lot for this lake)....and now were like 6 feet above or something like that....and it just keeps raining.

Im going to Granbury this weekend. How much is actually in the lake? As bad as this spring?

We had the same problem at Folsom Lake, CA last year. The entire lake became a 5 MPH zone until the park rangers got all the logs off the lake. Also saw a few ID-10-T's run into HUGE logs floating on the surface. It was kind of funny.

A couple days ago Granbury was the worst I've ever seen it (and I've lived on it for 15 years), but its starting to clear out. There's just alot of big stuff still in it. I'm in water's edge, I'll probably go out next week, weekends are too crowded anyways. We have a white/red I/O with a monster tower on it.

We pulled these out of the lake today, and there's some that are much larger than this.

No we are farther North across from that old house with the peninsula that comes out with the bench.

Looks like it did in the spring when all that rain came. We found some that looked like telephone poles.

Yes there is a lot of trees and debris in the lake right now, so be careful.

i live by the dam and de cordova is one of our favorite spots to ride when the wind is coming out of the north. but, im not so sure about the junk in the lake around there. im thinking its just as bad or worse than the rest of the lake due to the about of stumps and stuff on the other side of the lake. should be ok just take a look around before you board.

From the Hood County News website:

Public boat ramps closed (Posted Fri 04:17 pm)
The Brazos River Authority advises boaters to stay off Lake Granbury and the Brazos River because of so much debris in the water from this week's floods. All public access boat ramps have been closed through July 4.

Got to love it when your boat is already on the lake. I really dont think it is that bad personally. You do have to watch out but so far its not too bad.

Jordan
went to school out there many moons ago

north Texas weather is crazy

normally in August we are praying for rain
boat houses are way out of the water
ramps are out of the water
tons of boats are stuck on lifts
Labor day claims many props and rudders....sometimes some hulls

may not happen this year
the Brazos is pretty much shut down
you cant launch on Whitney or Lewisville...unless a private deep ramp

and whats worse, if you get a block of time away from work or chores.....you might get lucky and have an hour or two without rain

but my 2 lakes are still useable

Granbury was like a log jam today by us. I saw one tree going down the lake that had to be 2-3' in diameter and lots of junk/trash.

You wont see us on lake Granbury for at least a week, there are logs everywhere and watch out for the big propane tanks floating around, I would hate to hit one of those at 25mph.

They pulled the level down yesterday and this morning. I guess they are getting ready for the water from the 4th gate at PK. I hope they let it fill back up before all this has gone downstream.
