hey all. I was wondering how much ballast you run and what kind of boat? Im wanting to add more to mine but I'm a little concerned about how much is too much.

BTW I have a... 1992 ski ray (similar to a 190 prostar of same era) and im running 1200 lbs. I want to run 1800 lbs. do you think that will be to much?

sorry forgot something.. can you reach a point were more weight will not make the wake any better?

We had a malibu that was similar to that and I want to say that we had 1000/1200 lbs and after that more weight just slowed down the time it took to plain out, i would try it once or twice, but i cant imagine it can handle much more

Try and add another 3 or 4 people first. That will add about the same weight difference. If you like the characteristics, then get the extra sac so that you can reproduce the wake with fewer people.

My buddy runs a 96 MC 190 and he puts two 750# big bumps on each side of the engine cover plus at least 5 or 6 people. That's at least 2000# total and his wake is nice. He has the LT1 Corvette engine so he can run that much weight.

I agree with Tony and say you should definately test some different setups with your ballast. Too much and you will have a difficult time planeing out. Good luck with your wake man.

I have a 2001 Sanger DLX, and when I really sack out my boat I run a 500 lb sack in the bow, 300 lbs of lead on each side of the engine (600lbs total), a 500 lb sack behind the engine, a 200lb locker sack, and 320 lbs of internal ballast under the rear seat. All together around 2000-2100 lbs total plus a few people and gear.

Sangers sit extremely low in the water so you have to be on top of your game when driving, but it throws a nice wake this way. I was having a hard time getting up on plane when I started running this much weight, but I changed to a prop with a greater holeshot, and everything is perfect now.
