I am getting a new boat this summer and one of the reasons I chose the boat I did was because I want to do more surfing. I want to get a new board this year are well, but I don't know of any places that demo near me. Can you make some suggestions?

Info:
I own a hyperlite broadcast now. It was my first board, and is easy to ride. I like it, but want something different. I have ridden both a CWB Ride and a IS Black Pearl and liked both of them. I want to be able to do some spins, and would like to learn to get a little air. The board also needs to be durable enough to be put into board racks. I weight about 180 and don't want to spend over $500. Where should I look?

take a look at the TripleX boards. They are definatly your best bang for the buck. You can get the nitro for only 399. This will be a great, durable board that you will be able to progress with for a long time. Last season i used one to teach people of all different ages, sizes and skill levels. The next model up would be the Slayer Pro, still within your price range but it is a lot of board for a new person to try to ride.

I know they have some available at Towanza.com aswell as on the tripleX web site (triplexsurfandskim.com).

Also check out the CWB Benz $479

It's the sweetest board I've ridden. As far as durability- its right in the middle of skim and surf style. It's fast and you can use any fin you desire.

What makes a board too much for a beginner? Also, I have ridden an IS Blue Lake and did not car for it.

Spend a hundred more and get a Phase 5 Carbon x Hybrid board. It's the best of both worlds.

packrat, the yellow board is a 5'0" Jetty Swallow. It sold a while ago.

hunter660, did you like the skim style of the black pearl or the more locked in style of the ride?

The Triple X company also puts some boards on ebay. I got a nitro off of there last year for pretty cheap. There's one on for auction that ends today you might be able to pick up for a lot less. There are also some slayers from last year on there for less too. I only got to ride the Nitro once last season but it felt fast and responsive.

I think I prefer the skim style boards more.
