First traditional-bow option from Axis.

It will definitely draw some new buyers to the table. I like the changes to the interior.

I like it, but I also like the malibu with that same bow Seems like the malibu/axis stylistic differences are slowly merging.... nothing wrong with that, its all looked pretty good so far!

Looks good as always means nothing till we see the wake... But knowing axis it will most likely be very good.

No walk-thru bow still. Guess that makes it easier to hide bow ballast
Old     (xstarrider)      Join Date: Jun 2007       11-03-2013, 5:54 AM Reply
I am 99 percent sure it is walkthru. At least that's what I was told by my dealer. That was the premise behind the build. They wanted to go after the walkthru market.

I don't quite get the walkthru idea/focus. Anyone who boards I am sure loves having their ballast hidden up there rather that on the floor in the walkthru. Maybe their going after the more tradition look of swapping from I/o's to this. Idk. Any core rider is gonna need bow ballast and with walkthru you're limited

Im sure the wetted surface is no different

I prefer the walk thru bow. For me, it's primarily a convenience thing. I keep the boat on a lift. The bow is the primary entry and exit point. It's also easier when docking. That being said, I'm nowhere near a pro rider. It would seem to me that they should be able to find a better way to get more ballast into the nose using a molded tank of some sort during the build process. That being said, if it was easy to do, I'm sure a manufacturer would have done that by now.

I wonder why they went this route. I thought the whole Idea of the Axis was to give people a "Entrey level pickle fork" the pickle fork was one of the Items that made it a Axis. Along with the unique window and tower and boxy lines, Going with the traditional bow IMO puts it inline with a bunch of other boats. But Mabey that's what they wanted to do. I'm sure people with more insight than me had a good reason for the change. Mabey it's as simple a Top Deck and they now have a new Model?
Kind of like how ford and lincon share many of the same platforms. The only differance is some body work.

I can see them filing the need for a non-pickle, some people still dont like it. I liked that initially axis boats didnt just look like less equipped Bu's... now that bu has the MXZ it has definitely cast a shadow on the Axis line since the general styling and stance are so similar.

I also understand malibu's need to offer a more equipped picklefork, and they should do that under their name on not axis because all of us on the forums would get mad that axis was leaving the "price point" market.

double edged swords all over the place.

but i still like them.

To me it looks like they managed to make a slightly uncomfortable boat even more uncomfortable by taking out additional bow space. Pickleforks are not that ugly to begin with, and the traditional bow with axis's boxy lines and graphics looks pretty terrible to me.

Waiting to see some clearer pics of it, but it reminds me of the lines of the new LSV. Like what I've seen so far.

I didn't know what to expect when I heard the rumors of a traditional bow Axis. I think it looks great. I'm still partial to the pickle fork styling but they incorporated the new bow in perfectly to an already great looking boat. I honestly thought a traditional bow would look a little odd on an Axis, but I think they definitely pulled it off.

Gotta say it looks pretty sweet on the water in that pic. It's like a cross between an A22 and A
VTX/VLX with still the edgy Axis look. I think that is a home run. I am just not getting the bow. When I think walkthru I think bow filler cushion option. That looks more like the older SAN . Looks like the just eliminated the chillax seat but kept the full bow. Maybe the pic is misleading and that center cushion is a filler, but from that angle it looks way to massive to just be a filler.

I am digging the look for sure. Very sharp in a time where boats seems to be going backwards in styling.

I thought exactly that..doesn't look like just a filler looks like a full playpen.

That is a really nice looking boat! Any word on pricing?? Are these expected to be cheaper than the A series? If not I don't see why anyone would buy one over an A22 but if they are less I feel like they would have a great package in the T22.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say 55k-60k bare bones equipped with Surf Gate, but you know people love there options and a bling'd trailer.

Was told 3-4 k less than A22 base which is 54k and some change here by me. Dealer wasn't 100% on difference as the T pricing wasn't official for him yet.

Curious how ballast stacks up against A22 plug n play option and if the running surface is same as A22

I love the windshield and think the boat looks great, but like some other guys here, for the more serious boarder, I don't know that it carries any advantage over the pickle-fork. On the other hand, when trying to get new buyers, it makes all the sense in the world

I don't think this boat and a Mondo are in the same category. Price point boats yes, but the Mondo is 20ft 6inches with a square bow, the T22 apears to be a 22ft boat with a traditional bow. This would be more comparable to a Moomba LSV

Love my A22 and love the looks of the T. Its been an exciting couple of years for the wakeboard community with the manufacturers bringing new models to the market.

Another weapon in the Axis lineup, boat looks really good. I would have thought a traditional bow would have looked out of place on the Axis line but they pulled it off. The docking lights also look well placed. I also like how they made it a 102" beam, its going to have some great space in a 22' boat.

Stock ballast is 250 in each rear and 500 bow. PNP bow sack is 800.

As a MI rider who occasionally takes his a22 on the big lake, this boat is intriguing to me. I love the Axis product, but the a22's bow make me real nervous in anything bigger than your standard small lake chop.

I like the blue and white one. Also the interior is looking richer with some breaks in the vinyl and patterns.

How are the A22's for rough water? I mean more so for dipping the front in rough water. My current boat sits really low so one of my top things in a new boat is that it sits a lot higher out of the water as the lake where we have our summer house can get nasty quick.

My only nitpick is the blue piping on the seat...if your gonna do it in the inside why leave the bow plain????

The A22 does good in rough open water chop. I have no worries taking my A22 in 2-3 miles of open water in 20-30mph winds. Just ad ballast to the front and get the deeper part of the "V" of the hull to slice through the chop instead of leaving the bow ballast empty and having the chop slapping the flatter part of the hull. My A22 is much drier than than my previous 23' traditional bow wakeboat.

I was told the vinyl is much better quality.

It appears to be similar quality, looks like they just tried to give it a little more bling. Hard to say without being in it. I wish they'd do more with grain and diamond stitching.

I actually was referring to the designs with vinyl and angles in the design. Looks way more advanced than even the 2014s a20-a24 I have seen. Looks like same material just way better quality and design. Wonder if all a series will get update on vinyl styling as well because t22 almost looks like a higher end boat from pictures

I wonder if the A22 will get a wider beam and more freeboard next year.

Well I have heard from someone at malibu it is not the a22 hull but I didnt know if it was from malibu lineup

yeah I don't know then. Obviously the front has to be modified somewhat, but it seems highly likely that it's at least very similar to the A22.

It's a price point boat, so it's unlikely that they did a lot of R&D on it. And with the success of the A22 hull, they would be crazy to do anything drastically different.

t22 and a24 are going to be quite different in price. The A24 would probably win for me, if money is no object. It's a phenomenal wake and huge interior.

money isnt really the factor only the wake and interior quality. a24 is looking better on the former t22 on the lattter
