Just starting to surf, looking for a decent/cheap board.

Any recommendations off of this EVO outlet list?

I know there are several people on here (pretty much everyone) that are way better surfers than us but here is what we did...We bought the Hyperlight Broadcast. It is a very basic board but it was easy to learn on and everyone in my family learned to surf pretty quickly. We went from 3 fins to one very quickly and we also added weight to our boat and the wave got a lot bigger. Then a friend loaned us their Coex and we were able to progress in our abilities a little. By the end of the 2nd summer we'd all mastered some basic tricks (180's, riding switch, 360's) and now this year we just bought the Danielo Diamond (thanks Mitch) and hope to learn even more. We keep the Broadcast for friends and extended famliy that want to learn to surf. I know you will out grow it quickly but it's cheap and easy to learn to ride until you figure out what style you really like and go from there. Like I said, we are by no means experts just "weekenders" who are totally eaten up by the sport (300 hours on the boat last summer)!

Thanks for the advice! I have been leaning towards the broadcast myself. Thanks again.

The Koal and the LF custom are both great beginning boards, prob ride them longer before you progress so much you want another board. The broadcast is good also. Prob can find a broadcast used for under 200. I have seen them before. Evo is a little expensive for 2-3 year old models
