It would seem that there is an issue with noise, wake size and pollution on this lake and while the text of the article includes waterskiing, wakeboarding and wakesurf, the title of the article and picture focus on wakesurfing.

It seems that a group of fisherman wrote a complaint. They were fine with wakeboarding and waterskiing but when combined with wakesurfing it was too much.

So thinking about the politics of it, it's my experience that fishermen, slalom skiers AND wakeboarders aren't thrilled with how we practice our sport. I had to wonder if the strategy of the fisherman was to get the waterskiers and wakeboards to combine against the wakesurfers in order to protect their sport.

Amy and I were talking about possibly helping to sponsor a fishing tourney at Lake Oroville, which is a huge fishing lake. Whole goodwill kind of thing.

I just came back from Lake Annecy. It's one of the most beautiful spots in the world. Waterskiing and wakeboarding are very popular on Lake Annecy; I also saw wakesurfing.

You can translate the article using babelfish.altavista.com http://babelfish.altavista.com It's a mechanical translation and thus not perfect, but good enough...

Lake Annecy is a fragile lake. At one point most of the "quality" fish had been killed off and great efforts were made to clean up the lake and bring the fish back.

I believe jetskis are banned from the lake already.

Sounds like wakesurfing will bring the end of the world over there!

I also found it interesting that this Fishing Club pays 70,000 Euro a year to be able to rent the ability to fish.

Sounds like the dirty side of politics could win this one and thats a shame. Its unfortunate that money is involved, it probably wouldn't get anywhere if it wasn't

Yeah, it sounds like that community is about $'s and that's what will determine the "banning".

I tried Google Translate this morning on a different article, this one in Spanish...not sure how accurate it was. The original article is here:

http://waves.terra.com.br/surf/noticia/surfistas-invadem-o-cerrado/37738

One sentence from the translation really gripes me:

"A wave is formed is not a trace boat, being a few minutes surfing for the best hair competitors. "

So what is this bias against baldING competitors in Brazil?! :-)
