Anybody have any feed back or some sort of list for wakesurfing?
carving/pumping= beginner?
boardslides= intermediate?
360=expert?
ollies=expert??

There is supposed to be a wakesurf contest in our neck of the woods and was just wondering how they are graded. My girlfriend was thinking about doing it but she is a little nervous. She rips on the board and is coming close to 3's.

Hey Ryan, I am in the process of developing a trick list, but it's probably 6 months away. Right now, virtually all contests use a form of subjective judging format. We've been to contests from California to Florida and we just returned from Minnesota. In most of those contests, there will be maybe 1 girl, very few women compete in wakesurfing, as yet. If your g/f can ride, she'll probably take home 1rst place.

Currently the best you'll see at a local grassroots contest is a surface 3. Those typically can only do it behind their own boat so when they get behind a contest boat, they may not actually land it.

More than anything, they are a great time. Low pressure and tons of fun.

Have a great time and enjoy.

James,

A short trick list and discription of the trick would be awsome. My kids leaned the fire hydrant from your dad and everyone asks what that trick is. My oldest boy Justin did the fire hydrant and different variations on the wakeskate in a tournament and all of the judges like it.

What are some other tricks?

Yeah, but it's not a "trick list" perse with limits per division, or points assigned. It's just an alpha listing or "some" tricks. In most contests at the grassroots level, you'll see pumping, floaters and lip slides, top and bottom turns and posing, tucking (one knee touching), fire hydrant and the occasional surface 3 and air. I still haven't seen a good definitive split by division OR point assignments to identify the harder from the less hard tricks.
