From Asheboro there are 3 lakes within 30 minutes. High Rock, Badin and Tuckertown Reservoir. Tuckertown has glassy water most all the time, even weekends. The picture is of Tuckertown

High Rock, Badin & Tillery have houses on them & are nice lakes but get busy on the weekends. Tillery is 45 minutes, Belews (heated) is 45 minutes. Jordan Lake 1 hour. Hyco Lake (heated) 1 hour & 20 minutes. Hyco is fun, lots of wakeboarding & hydrofoiling especially Easter & Halloween. Checkout www.endofropegang.com . There's lot's of good info on that site.

Why would you or your brothers move to Asheboro? Just curious.

My brother and His family moved there a year ago and they told me that they wished that they did this when the kids were small.I have 4 young kids and would love to live in a nice place with 5-10 acres around us.I sell Real Estate in Riverside county and help Developers buy land for their projects and would like to see how that is going back east, asfar as tract maps and such.Hey Bro,Thank You for your response to my post and maybe we could hook up in late Dec.-Jan. How are the lakes heated?

Belews and Hyco have steam electric generating plants which use the water for cooling purposes. This, in turn, heats the water which is pumped back into the lake. This past weekend our non-heated lake was 60, Hyco was 75. Big difference as you can see!

You would be better served to bring your snowboard and head for Boone for a little snowboarding or snow skiing! It will be a bit cold at Christmas! Projected to snow!

With 2 heated lakes so close, you've got to get some wakeboarding in.
