I have just bought a pair of 04 defcon 3 speakers, would i need one or two amps to power these speakers and what sort of amp would i need???

Check with Skylon, there should be some recommended power they need to run well.

I think those speakers run at 200-250 RMS per side at 2 ohms. One amp is all you need. An example of a good amp for these speakers would be an Orion 6002, which can supply 300 RMS at 2 ohms.
