My buddy has an '02 X-30 and we were thinking about doing a little alteration to the decals. I was wondering, how easy would it be to cut the red portion out of the center of the sticker (sorry, no pictures) and just leave the X30 and the circle design around it. I am assuming a sharp razor blade and a light touch would get the job done. What should I expect once the sticker comes off?

If you do that, you will most likely scratch the underlying gel coat with the razor blade causing expensive damage to the boat. There may be some gel coat fading too.

A better solution is to purchase new stickers, cut out the parts you don't want when they're off the boat, and replace the ones on the boat with the new ones you just bought.

Why dont you try tracing it out first, getting some vinyl from a local sign maker in the color you want, then cutting it yourself and putting it over the existing color. While it will be true that there will be a slight bump around it, it will not be any worse than the stock decal.

If you really like it, you can have a sign maker do the entire thing custom to your liking.

I wouldn't take a razor blade to mine though.

Tracing paper will be less than five bucks, get a large sheet from office depot used for tracing blueprints.

A large sheet of colored vinyl should be under twenty bucks, and the entire thing is easily removable.

Just a thought.
