I have a standard 6 speaker plus bazooka tube setup and generally only run it when the boat is running so figure I only need the one standard battery. It lives under a boathouse roof on a lift and I was looking for something that could just "top it off" between weekends. I've seen the cheapo "battery tender" going for less than $20 bucks but dont want to scrimp if its a fire hazard. Thoughts?

So it stays mounted to the battery in the boat and you connect the plug between uses?

Exactly. Mine is hooked to one battery but charges both through an Auto Combining Relay. You can buy one with as many battery banks as you need. Those Maintaners are not meant to charge up batteries, just to keap charged batteries charged.

If your looking for a small charger/maintainer, you can't beat these. No reason to spend hundreds on chargers you really dont' need.

I use the 2 bank 10 amp one from bass pro. Had it for 3 years with no issues. Definately prolongs the battery life. I keep mine plugged in all the time while not in use. It has a float mode after it has been fully re-charged so it doesn't harm the battery.
