Anyone on here using the Acme # 543 prop. It is 13 X 11.5. Jim at acme recommended this one when using a lot of ballast. With out a lot of ballast he recommended acme #541 13 X 12 I am just curious of the difference in rpms, and top end speed.
I dont have the same prop but this might help. I was using an acme prop 13.5 x 17.5 and changed to a 13.5 x 16 to help the hole shot for extra wieght in the boat. It took about 3 to 4 mph off at the top end. And the rpms run a little bit higher when your cruising around. But it was definitely worth it if your running alot of extra wieght.
i changed my stock 13.5 x 17.5 to a high altitude prop. can't remember the number though. well worth it. the hole shot is much better. speed while turning back around stays consistent. top end speed drop like 7 mph. but, oh well, cna't have both.
Mike I ran that prop on my last boat. Switched from an OJ four blade 13 X 13. The Acme runs circles around that prop. Holds speed so much better and really helped the hole shot.
I have sold a lot of the 543 props and never had a disappointed customer. Trust Acme to size you up - they have performed a lot of testing to give the advice they do. It is not a guess - their advice is based on real research under real conditions.
Mike, I run that prop on my Cal-Air (13x11.5 3 blade Acme)
The OJ 13x13 4 blade that came with the boat is no where as nice as the Acme for hole shot and speed holding on my boat. I have close to 1500#s of ballast in there and the Acme is much better with that weight.
