I was wondering if anyone had pics of their Glastrons that they made into wakeboarding boats cause I would like to see them. Or what you do to make your Glastron wake a lot better than it really is like adding ballast or did you add a tower to your boat. We have a 2003 Glastron 23' stock.

Here is my GX 185. We have a Wake Air tower and I add 250lbs in the ski locker and 250 up front.

cool you got the tower to match your boat. how much did that cost approx and to install? Also...What brand ballast are you using?

Yea, the matching color was the best part and I love the way it looks. With the racks and speakers I spent about $1500. I bought it at Christmas when they were having a sale. I use the Fly High side sacs.

i was thinking of buying some skylon ballast bags. 600 locker bow + 600 fatboy in the back. Is that too much weight for this boat?

Thanks Mango..

Yah this is my very first boat, one which was pretty much an impulse buy. After buying it and then reading on all the other boats and stuff i almost wish i held out for a more wakeboard specific boat. But being too late, I decided to try to at least customize it a little bit... So I got all my friends from the stereo shop and the graphics shop to hook me up so my boat wouldn't be so "common" looking.

I'm happy with it now, and it puts out a killer wake with 700lbs in the bow and 2-3 peeps in the back, but what I'd REALLY love is perfect pass installed... is it possible to install PPWBP on a carburated engine? I'm not too good at that sort of thing, but my engine is a V-8 220hp Volvo Penta engine. I asked about it at the store that i bought my boat at, and mentioned that i had seen that i could purchase PP for somewhere around 900 bucks on the internet (i had seen some posts on here)... i was told if i bought it that way, they wouldn't be able to put it in until december or so... so then i asked well what if i bought it from them, and the answer they gave me was, sure we can squeeze you asap, but PPWBP would cost me around 1400 not including install charges...

Is this common treatment? I know spent half of what i would have spent had i bought a mastercraft or something from them, but it sure feels like i'm being brushed off here... Maybe it's because PPWBP was not meant to be installed on a boat like mine?

David, the engine was a 130 or 135 hp. I never had a problem pulling a wakeboarder up. I would only have a max of 5 people in it though. The largest person I pulled up on a wakeboard was my moms boyfriend and he is about 200lbs. The rest of us averaged from 105lbs to 170lbs.

If you are going to slalom ski behind it I think the engine is to small for pulling up a bigger person. But for wakeboarding it was a great 10k boat.

My buddy has a 175, with the 130 hp Volvo 4. It gets you out of the water fine, but I find it's nearly impossible to keep the speed steady. 20=21 is right on the edge of planing out for that boat. Anybody find a way to deal with that? We haven't sacked it out, though I'm tempted to bring my side sacks to see what it does. (I've got an older Centurion.)

mango, I had a Skylon locker sac in my 19' Sea Ray and it firmed up the wake nicely. I would focus your weight in the center and front since you can always use the trim to force the back down. Although, that may not apply in a 23' boat but I can vouch for the locker sac.

Ryan, where did you get that tower for your glastron? I have a 99 SX175 and need a tower. I like how that one follows the slope of the windshield.

I had it custom made in a shop down in San Antonio. That’s the reason in fits the contour of the boat so well. I’ve included a good website to see a lot of different tower manufactures. But for the money, if Monster Towers would have been around back then that’s who I’d gone with for that boat. To have that tower made was around $2,200.

Mango, I got the decals made at a graphics shop called PG-13 that that my friend works at... i have no idea what font he used... just told him what i wanted, gave him rough sketches of the side decal, dropped my boat off, and voila!

As for the wake in my boat, i have pics that i'll post later when i find them, but i have a skylong 700 pound bag that i put in the bow and about 300-400 in lead in the back.. with the trim about a quarter up the wake is sick... thats with 3 or 4 people in the boat as well.. when i go above that number of people like say 6 or 7, the wake gets huge but boat is a little tricky to handle and i only let my friends who are experienced boat drivers get behind the wheel.

Mango: Here are some pics of the wake off my boat. The pics are taken with a 700 pound sack in the bow, and 3 people in the boat. No rear ballast besides like icechest and people.

Don't have a lot of experience behind a real boat with a real wake, but for this summer, it's ton's enough fun for us.
