Either you are letting the rope out too much or you let go with back hand 3/4 of the way through the trick. Had the same problem for a while too

letting go of the rope with your back hand will keep you from reverting it, or just falling back

I have the problem of too much cut at the wake. You land how you take off. Try not having as much edge at the wake. Stand tall get your pop then do the roll. I notice when I throw it too early, I am on edge and roll is flat and I land with too much wieght on back. Let us know how it goes.
