Trailer bearing grease

Need to replace 2 bearing buddies, and wanting to repack everything and get it all taken care of. I have been using "regular" lithium marine bearing grease and it hasnt performed so well. When flung out of the bearing buddy it is black and the hub is HOT.

I would very much like to find a 3 oz cartridge "synthetic" #2 grease to transition too after cleaning everything and replacing the buddies. Does anyone have a favorite? I am finding Green Grease and Super Lube on the internet. I would normally just use Amsoil, but dont want the 14 oz cartridge.

Just an FYI, I have now talked to 3 trailer places that have said not to lube using the bearing buddies since it tends to push grease through the rear seal and then on to your brake drums. They all said to grease the hell out of the bearings, pack them really well, then grease the spindle and inner drum really well and that should be fine till the next repack. They said bearing buddies are fine to keep the dirt and dust out like a regular grease cap, but try to resist using a grease gun on em from time to time. My brakes were trashed from pumping until the water bubbled out around the spring. By that time grease had gone through the rear seal.
As far as grease goes, I just used the Green Marine grease from the trailer parts store. It was deffinately thicker than the marine grease I used in the past. Plus I think I used about 1/2 can packing my bearings and spindles.
Again, this is just my 2 cents and input from some guys who do trailers for a living.

Just curious, do you have the bearing buddies covered with a cap? I have always used the basic bearing lube. Can't remember the name. Sorry.

I use evinrude EP wheel bearing grease. It is a synthetic grease with an Aluminum base. Does well with washout. My only gripe with it is it can seperate a little and create some little drips on occasion.

As for the bearing buddies, it only pushes out the back seal when you pump too much in. I had them on our last trailer and never forced the grease out the back.

Current trailer has drilled spindles so it forces the grease to the back and pushes it out the front. I actually like those because I can get the older grease out. I do use more grease out as I tend to flush them a little each time.

If you need brearing buddies, let me know. I have a bunch of them new in package that I need to sell. I have different sizes depending on what you need.
