Its time to replace the 05 CWB flame 141. I'm a heavy guy (6'1" 250lb) and I was wondering if size really makes a big difference. I am looking at the Ronix Ibex and I am wondering if the 139 or the 144 is best for me. If I get the larger of the 2 will I be sacrificing pop because of the additional weight of the board?

go with the 144

Size definitely matters imo I weigh between 210 and 215 last year I rode a 139 and now I ride a 143 and it made a huge difference in my pop and overall riding

I don't think you are sacrificing pop because you are increasing the surface area of the board to pop you off the wake. You are sacrificing swing weight for spins etc.

Can you demo? Feel of board is very subjective. I am 5'11 and 160...my favorite board has been a 142 Project. Very stable and I had no issue getting air.

DEMO DEMO DEMO.

I have the ibex 144. it has real good pop but i have not rode the 139, i actually have the same question, I'm 6'4" 230. i really like the board it is really light. this is my first season so only time will tell. I hope that someone has more info.

IMO, don't even consider the 139. 144 all the way.

The Ibex rides real small. I'd go with the 144 for sure. You can also demo these.

They're boards I've ridden that fit me pretty well. I'm 6' 220lbs.

You will actually gain more pop by going with the bigger board and will feel much more stable aswell. I'd recommend the 144 if you came into my store. You can't go wrong if you demo though. a bigger board will help your landings too because the board is not going to have the sinking feeling that you will get being on a smaller board.

I'm at about 190 right now and was riding a 134, now I ride a 140. I didn't notice a big difference in pop so long as I had enough speed. I found myself riding faster than I usually would with a smaller board but I'd still get good pop so long as I didn't sink or slow down coming in.

I did notice that if I was going to land at all squirrely, I was going to fall on a smaller board. With a bigger board I have a little more wiggle room and it really helps me when I'm just a little off on the landing. I can still ride away where on the small board, if my weight wasn't centered, that was the end of it.

Thinking about the new 08 Marius 140 for me. I used to ride a Premier 140 (back in 03 or so) and loved it and then went to Parks 142. I think the bigger board helped quite a bit.

Do you all think the super wide Marius will feel similar to a longer board? Or should I prob look at an Ibex 144. BTW, I'm 6'7'' 235. Very limited demo options here.

Thanks for your input fellas :-D

I just started this year and got a motive 134 by recommendation from my dealer. I am 5'-11" & 175#. I would really like to try a bigger board. I think it might work better for me.

6'7"?? Have you grown in the last few years??!

You need to come to Dallas and have a reunion with me and the Skull (aka: Rob).

Marius 140 will be the best board you ride

if you can find one...the LF Axis 143 is a super easy board to ride...consistent pop, loose when I like it to be and still holds a very solid edge (alot like the shane)...not too fast and not too slow...and i've ridden every board in the LF line-up this year...you might also want to take a look at the Witness 144...SOLID board

just my opinion

thanks for all the info, looks like i need to demo for the best results. Sounds like i will be better off with the bigger board.

tx, water conditions also play a role in length of board and rocker style, for me.

Crappier the water = more length, less abrupt rocker and more fin

Smoother water = less length, abrupt 3-Stage and finless

I ride from a 141 to a 147 depending on conditions. 6' 220lbs

The 139 seems pretty short for a big dude like you. I've ridden boards down to 133 (girls) and I can make them all pop but the landings are brutal for me on those short boards.

i think i will go with the softer landings. thanks

We have a 136 Parks and a 138.1 Murray. I'm 6'4" and weigh about 215 and ride the Murray. A good friend of mine is about 10 pounds heavier than me and the same height and will only ride our Parks when he doesn't have his board with him (a 135 3ds). He's said that he does sacrifice a little air ridin the really small board, but does it for the low swing weight. From what i noticed, he really has to cut unusua'ly hard into the wake to set up his tricks on such a little board. He's really unusual though, but you too might like a smaller board. Demo both sizes and see what you like.

I'll just have to demo whatever I can get my hands on. Everything I've read about the Marius has me intrigued. I'm getting a little sick of the bucking style of the Parks board, its fun, but I want to get a little more smooth. Plus I'm diggin the set up shown here
