Opinions on this wake?

It's from a borrowed Larson I/O with no weight. Just wondering if it's a decent sized wake for riding and if adding weight would significantly improve the wake? If so, I would be more inclined to buy an I/O similar to this to save money. The pics are video stills so excuse the quality. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Throw some weight in the nose and trim up the outdrive. Trimming it up in 1/4 or more will clean up the wake. The sac in the bow will keep the boat from bouncing too much. You can do a lot behind that wake.

The wake is really only part of why we buy inboards. But if you don't have any experience to draw upon, then the Larson would probably be a great boat to learn how to ride, pull, drive, park, dock, beach, etc.

My first boat was an 18' SeaRay with 3 sand bags and a Waylon extended pylon in it. We put a ton of hours on that boat & sold it after about 3 or 4 yrs. Worked great & allowed me to learn what I was going to be into & what kind of boat to get for it.

Yeah the real issue you will have with an inboard is:
-What you see in the pic with the washed wake (but you should be able to learn to correct that with some experience)
-HOLDING speed is the worst part of an I/O in my opinion. They tend to just be getting on plane at wakeboarding speed so harder to hold, while an inboard will plane out before 20 mph and makes holding speed much easier

Either way great way to start and you be the judge of what works for you...

The wake is cleaner on the starboard side than the port side. Moving people away from the washed out side cleans it up. In your case that's having people sit more to the middle or starboard side.

That wake is perfectly fine to ride on and def. learn on. I have a I/O and we actually dropped some of the weight because the wake was to big and lippy to handle for beginners.

Just put most of the weight in the nose first before anything then adjust side to side to clean it up.

I think you should go with the quality wake and get an inboard.
Don't kid yourself, an I/O wake will never be as good as an inboard wake. (no matter where people sit, or how much weight you use).

Yea all my buddies refuse to ride with me because I have an I/O and they say exactly that " an I/O will never be as good as an inboard". HA

Dude dont listen to that...if the price is right get an I/O, throw a tower on it and have a good time. All of my riding friends, back in the day, learned on a bass boat. Go on youtube and you can find people throwin down on outboard boats.

Dont get me wrong, I would love to have a nice nautique but for 1/2 the price, I am making the best of what I have and loving every bit of it.

Like I said, I have an I/O and its a never ending pleas of people wanting a pull.

Julianne, he never asked if it will be as good as a "Quality" in board what ever that means. He wanted to know if that wake will work for his needs. Why do people feel the need to steer people the wrong way. Just like Bill K stated it will show you the ropes, get you dialed in on riding, driving and having fun!
In the end you wont be "that guy" meaning the clown with a 60k boat that can only do HS wake2wakes like 80 percent of the posers on here.

So, if you can only do a heelside W2W you are a poser? That statement is just as lame as the one you are bashing.

shane, all i said was that an inboard will produce a better quality wake than an i/o.

problem is people think by putting tower on an i/o they get a wakeboard boat, that's simply not true.

you are right, you can ride behind anything, and i'm sure everyone will agree, the best part of being on the lake is to be with friends and family.

We should be in the same catagory as I/O's according to you. Julianne he never said anything about a tower nor the boat being a wakeboard boat. He asked a simple question about the wake, instead of offering advice on wieght you tell him to (basically)get a real boat, Nice.......

In comparison to i/o's inboards do rule. I can jump the wake both ways so I guess I'm not a clown/poser? Shane you are 34 and calling people posers? Really?

Yo, thanks everyone for the replies. After seeing the pics of Ryan's I/O I'm pretty confident that I could dial in the wake enough to fit my needs. Thanks again.

Dude. There is nuthin wrong with those wakes. I got a MC Stars and Stripes and im not gettin a wake that good. yeah, mine is prolly a little cleaner and maybe a little firmer but i dont have half that size. my wake is maybe a foot and a half high. both of those look at least 2ft. and they look solid. throw a little weight in the front and have at it.

I think this relates to the "wakesnobs" link. Not directly, but there a lot of people who probably think you need a v or weighted dd to get a good wake. A couple years ago I was offered a ride from some new friends...I showed up to see a i/o Glastron with a cuddy cabin and a homebuilt tower. I was skeptical. The tower was shaky, but the wake on that thing scared me back then. It was huge. Plenty big to throw basic inverts. So, unless you plan on going pro with that boat, I think that wake looks Great. Like previously stated..maybe weight it a little to clean it up a bit, but its plenty big.

Shane not everyone on WW can do crow 7s like you can. We are all learning. Some people have money for a nice nautique so they get it, because they enjoy going on on the lake and just doing what they love, even if at the time it's only a w2w jump. In fact, we all have money here or else we would be doing a less expensive hobby like skateboarding right? Leave them be.. You're the clown here man.

Nick your missing the point, I know peeps on here are LEARNING and all they can do is W2W. They are not the posers, clowns, chodes ect.....

Very well said. A boat is a boat is a boat. I/O's are very over priced. Boating is about having fun, first and foremost. I love seeing kids out there with their dads tiny fishing boat having a blast. That's what it's all about.

There are sooo many negative whinners on this board...it's almost toxic.
