I know this has been covered on here hundreds of times with a DIY ballast project, but I am having trouble finding anything current. Also how are the factory ballast systems plumbed?

I am currently installing a auto ballast system on my Tige, and I am looking for a consensus on the type of pumps everyone is running. So if you could please let me know the following, I would really appreciate it.

a) what type of pumps you have
self-priming reversible
aerator style

b) how has the system you have installed functioned for you since you installed it

Here are my concerns with each of the options:

reversible self-priming - I don't necessarily like how the inlet/outlet is the same thru-hull fitting - not real keen on draining out a hole in the bottom of the boat

aerator style - I'm a little concerned about the space it will take up and that I won't get a good prime to start the drain/fill process.
