My truck gauge said 114 degrees in front of 6 flags yesterday

http://weather.yahoo.com/united-stat...355944/?unit=f

we have had no rain

I think that next Saturday is the target date for breaking the consecutive numbers of days of 100 degrees or hotter (43 I think)

next week doesn't look much better

I got a letter from the city about lake Arlington. Last week the water level was 3 feet from them closing the ramps. I assume that it will close this week if it hasn't already

And I've been bitching about the record rain we've had here in Seattle this summer...

I have a crew replacing the roof on my house. I have no idea how those guys can handle walking around on a roof, working and moving shingles. I put out a 5 gallon jug of Gatorade and ice. It has been re-filled 2x already. I also have a canopy and fans to keep them cool. Their foreman has them working 20 minutes on/40 off until 6PM, then they work until dark.

We broke a ~70 year old record today here in Chattanooga, 101. This summer seems as though it will be hotter than 07.

Live in Dallas as well, and the heat is just awful. We are used to get it getting hot but not like this for this long. My house is cracking all over the place due to the dry soil around the foundation.

Are you guys dropping soaker hoses or have you done so already? I'm thinking I might need to do so soon.

More like landing in your own sweat. I had to pee on myself in the water to cool down.

Haven't done soakers yet, but have watered the side of the house with a sprinkler for a couple hours every night, disregarding the "conserve water" situation. If you're seeing the soil separate from the foundation, wet that stuff asap. We just moved here, and spent 2-3 months looking at houses, one of the biggest determining factors was foundation history and quality. Ended up choosing an older house with a proven foundation rather than the newer junk they've been building the last decade.

I took a cold shower this evening just to cool off. Why is L'ville so much warmer than other lakes?

First summer here in Dallas. Weather guessers were saying only reason streak in 1980 broke was a hurricane?? We start water rationing here in Plano in 2 weeks.

I have no idea. I'm guessing bc it's starting to evaporate quicker which is making it more shallow and with less water to warm it makes it warm up quickly. It seriously jumped 10-12 degrees in a matter of about 10 days.

I'm sure lake Arlington is even hotter. It has the water plant on it. It's also shallower. The lake is closed now

Yeah I thought it was just about out of water from what I've heard.
