Alternative to led's?

My son has a nerf basketball that glows in the dark with a neon like wire wrapped around it. I am looking at adding some accent lights to the boat this winter and this wire interested me. So I did a little searching and I found

Has anyone heard of or used this stuff? At $1.40 a foot for the "super bright" wire, this could look good and be cheaper than led's.

Yeah, we ran it where the floor meets the seat supports... covered the whole "C" shape of the v-drive seating, it looked good but people would catch on it, we just used LED's and neon bars,

the stuff works but if someone hits it or pulls it, it all starts to go
