I couldn't figure out how to add more posts to the infamous MCX45 vs. BU247 thread from a while back, but it is probably better not to bring that up again anyways...
The recap was I went for the 247. It came in last week and I went to see it today at the dealer. Pretty happy with the results. When the dealer gets done with the lights, racks, etc., it is going for custom covers, then to the stereo shop. I'll post more pics later. Has anyone measured out the NVS Tyrant on the illusion X tower? It seems pretty tight, I may go with the Addictions. Comments on that??

Congrats Festivus. Nice ride!

I was helping the local malidu dealer a few weeks ago with a demo day. Taking customers out on many different Bu's I finally got to take a 247 for a spin. Everything I heard was true. Man! What a nice ride. I was impressed with the power (Hammerhead), and especially the handling. Wish I had a chance to surf or ride behind it. Even on the demo, the wake was smokin'.

Have a blast with you new baby! Keep the pics coming.

Sweet boat, congrates man. I have the tyrants and they would be pretty low if you put them on the center cross bar. I would go with the Addictions.

If I could scrounge up the coin, that would be the exact boat I would order. Beautiful. And NVS to top it off... Hey, I have an idea. Keep it in pristine shape, then sell it to me in 3 years for 1/2 price Congrats, we're all jealous. Are those Toyo low-pro tires, and what size wheels?
Old     (festivus)      Join Date: Jan 2006       03-29-2006, 10:33 AM Reply
17's with the Toyos. I didn't do the trailer lo-pro option because the chrome wouldn't last long with my kids and me climbing all over them. They look great though. Sam- 3 1/2 years sounds about right, I'm not going anywhere...
The audio will be, I thing.
NVS Addictions on the tower, Polk momo interior, and JL sub/amps. Transom remote.

Festivus, How are you liking the triple axle trailer? Or have you even towed it yet? Let us know your thoughts on this after you've had some time with it.

Such a Sick Boat!

Matt- yeah, haven't towed it anywhere yet, including home from the dealer. Should get a delivery date today, hopefully. I am having a second 3 outlet heater added with vents on the port side and in the rear. So it sort of depends on when they get that done. The factory 3 outlet heater has brutal outlet locations. 2 up under the drivers feet and one in the walkthru, so not extremely usable to all those passengers in the back. The dealer also still has to install the tower bullet lights/switches, board racks, etc....
My hope with the 3xtrailer is to reduce tongue weight a bit. Although the unload weight of the boat and trailer from the transport rig was 6300lbs on the crane, so I don't think the Sequioa will be very useful anymore as a tow vehicle. When is the bigger engine and redesign on the Sequioa getting here?
I know the double axle tows just fine, so 3 should tow even better(?).

Anyone using the Pro80 Wetsounds tower speaker? Trying to compare it with the aDDictions. I have mentally ruled out the TYrants based on their size.

Did that boat make the boat-show rounds? I a 247 exactly like that at the Knoxville Boat Show, a white 247, same color scheme, with a three-axle trailer.

cody- nah, I ordered it in a February production slot in Merced. Nice to know I picked colors (or lack of)that someone else chose for a show boat....

6300lbs. Fest, you own a Chevron? In Utah, are you allowed to tow a fuel rig behind your boat behind your Peterbilt?
Old     (entrustclothing)      Join Date: Jul 2005       03-30-2006, 3:55 PM Reply
6300lbs! damn! that's a beast! yeah if the sequoia is like the tundra then about 6500lb is the limit. you might be needing to look into an f-650 :-)

Well, my backup tow-er is my Titan, which I think will do just fine, it's just a tight fight in there with all my kids...
Old     (entrustclothing)      Join Date: Jul 2005       03-30-2006, 10:50 PM Reply
yeah the titan should be more than fine, it tows what like 9500lbs?

i have either an 05 tundra or an 05 frontier to tow my XLV with, my business partner has the tundra and i have thr frontier, i almost bought an h3 instead, but im glad i didn't they only tow 4500lbs, which would not tow the new boat, its amazing that my midsize frontier tows as much as the tundra!
Old     (kraig)      Join Date: Dec 2002       03-30-2006, 11:57 PM Reply
Entrust- I was amazed when I read one of your posts on another thread where you said you tow your XLV with the Frontier. I haven't studied the Frontier so I'm not as versed in it as you are, but my first thought is that it isn't rated for that weight. But I am obviously wrong. I tow my XLV with my Tundra and it does it just fine, besides it pulling the truck down the ramp some days. Other than that, the Tundra does fine. However, I just picked up a Titan and WOW does this truck haul a**! Can't wait to get the XLV behind it. The reason I bought it was because of my XLV.

FYI- The Tundra is rated at 7200lbs. I thought my XLV was big, the 247 is Monsterous!! The Titan should pull it just fine. That Endurance V8 is sadly underrated. 330hp at the flywheel when they advertise 305. Nissan is notorious for underrating their engines. There is sooo much undiscovered HP in that engine.

how big is that boat that it needs a triple axle trailer. that's too cool!

I don't have much to add other than this is the best looking boat I have ever seen. From the trailer to the color combo this thing is sweet.
Old     (entrustclothing)      Join Date: Jul 2005       03-31-2006, 8:59 AM Reply
Kraig,

the frontier is rated at like 6300lbs and the XLV is just under 5000lbs and i gotta say i don't notice much difference with the tundra and the frontier, it's about a 500-700' elevation drop to the boat ramp from my house and it's like a straight shot down hill and going back up hill the frontier pulls like a champ, never had an issue or been scared towing with it. my frontier has like 290 ft-lbs of torque and a boxed frame, nissan deffinitely builds capable trucks. if i ever do a long drive though i will probably use the tundra, just for the comfort.

you guys are too kind. I'll post better picks when we get it out in the sunlight and some junk-jizzle added to the tower, lights/speakers, etc.

Diesel=Boobies. Theorem. Better gas mileage=less refueling, More Power=More Speed, overall diesel=boobies.

Kraig- I don't know how to tell the current HP, but I re-did the exhaust on my Titan. The stock exhaust has a constriction point where the two manifold pipes come together, so I replaced everything from there back, opened it up about 1 1/2 inches, put an aero turbine on, and then dual tips straight out the back. Sounds great and frees up some of that undiscovered hp.....

yeah, but it helps that all three axles have disc brakes. It follows the truck really nice, stops really nice, but is a brute to get rolling.

FM-now that you have towed the bigger boat witht the Titan, what are your thoughts. We bought as Titan as well but havn't had a chance to tow more than a few miles yet. Our boat is at the dealer just a matter of finding time to go pick it up. BTW sweet boat, looks like it will be a great summer.
Old     (festivus)      Join Date: Jan 2006       04-12-2006, 9:39 AM Reply
The Titan did great. I kept it at 75mph, even going up some moderate hills on the way home. With that dual exhaust and the aero turbine, you can hear that endurance V-8 pretty well. I have no reservations about towing it.
Old     (heem)      Join Date: Dec 2005       04-12-2006, 9:43 AM Reply
Dual exhaust-self explanatory. What is an aero turbine? PM if yo like. thanks

you got to add 5ft to the rope just to compensate for the length of the hull.

Is that the same tower they use on the vlx? or is it a bigger version?

I just want to know what Festivus does for a living to have those two boats attached to that truck sitting in that driveway of that house. the boat(s) are sweet no doubt. i'd take either one. are you hiring?

I was wondering that same thing :-) I need to get in his line of work.

Festivus... I'm moving to CO in a couple months... do ya have a spare room? :-)
Old     (festivus)      Join Date: Jan 2006       04-12-2006, 7:10 PM Reply
Jim- an aero turbine replaces the muffler- it improves gas mileage, gets you some throaty noise, and improves hp slightly.
http://www.aeroexhaust.com/
Derek- I disagree, I think the S22 still looks great. I have sincere regret for selling it. There'll never be another, and she's treated me like a well'bred firstborne.
Tingey- I ordered it with the factory option 3 outlet heater, but 2 of the 3 outlets are on the driver's feet, so I had the dealer (Tommy's) add another 2 outlet heater. You can see the two additional outlets in one of the pictures. One is in the stern, just under the middle seat, and the other is about 1/2 way up the port side seating.
dj- I was wondering the same thing. What is the beam on the VLX?
Ryan- I am a torture specialist. People actually pay me to stick needles in them.
Russell- where in CO are you moving? I'd be happy to provide a good pull.
