Wake Plate Adjustment Questions '93 Supra Mariah

I have a '93 Supra Mariah with the manually adjustable wake plate underneath the rear platform, and before I spend hours trying to adjust it for a nicer, steeper wake, I was wondering if anyone has any tips... Should it be all the way up, all the way down, half way inbetween, or what to make the wake taller and steeper? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

plate up for max wake, putting it down flattens the wake. dial it in from there, mine's all the way up.
